It is important that you run the switch live balance type mode procedure described in Types of Balance Record at a time when no other users are logged in to the org. This is to minimize the possibility that transactions will be posted during the time the process takes to complete.
So, as an alternative to the Balance Configuration tab method, you can schedule the switch process to run at a more appropriate time, usually overnight.
