New Features and Enhancements in Foundations Spring 2022

The following new features have been introduced in the Spring 2022 release of FinancialForce Foundations:

Manage Messaging Return Data

You can now manage return data for declarative relationships in Foundations messaging. Return data helps you to confirm that data has been transferred between your applications.

Return data enables a subscribing application to publish a response when it receives a message from another app. The app that published the original message can subscribe to the delivery response and optionally display data on its source records.

You can enable return data directly from a messaging relationship. This process was previously available when viewing publications and subscriptions individually and known as link control.

To improve the way this information is displayed, return data details are now displayed below relationship mappings in a separate section.

Previously, link control would always create a new ID field on target records. To reduce the possibility of duplicating fields, return data only creates a lookup on the target object if the identifier reference field is not a lookup to the source object.

For more information about enabling return data for a messaging relationship, see Return Data Overview.

Messaging Subscriptions

We have updated the messaging relationship to prevent you from updating a subscription type after the messaging relationship has been saved. This is to ensure all associated processes, such as return data, work effectively.

For more information about creating messaging relationships, see Creating a Messaging Relationship.

Simplified User Management Template Setup

We’ve simplified the process of creating user management templates (UMTs) in Foundations. UMTs can be used to quickly apply permission and licensing information to users.

The previous process required UMTs to be created in custom metadata records. You can now do this using the simple prompts on the new User Management Templates page.

UMTs are saved as custom metadata, but you no longer need to interact with the metadata records directly unless you want to edit or delete the templates or template data. These records are linked from the new page for your convenience.

For more information about creating user management templates, see User Management Templates.

Customizable Distributed Global Navigation

We have added the Global Navigation Configuration Builder, which enables you to create your own configurations to be combined with the supplied FinancialForce configurations for your installed products. This combined configuration is applied to the FinancialForce Navigation configuration that is used in the FF Navigation component that you can add to:

For more information about navigation builders, see Navigation Configuration Builders Overview.

Highlights Configuration Builder

We have enhanced the Highlights Configuration Builder for the FF Highlights component. You can now set dynamic thresholds for cards that use number and currency fields. This compares the card's value against a percentage of a reference field's value, and then applies the relevant threshold color. This is not available for the individual cards.

The FF Highlights component enables you to create multiple highlight cards in a single component that you can add to an object's FinancialForce Lightning record page.

For more information about navigation builders, see Setting up FinancialForce Highlight Card Panels.

Deprecated Managed Workspace Components

As part of our regular maintenance, in this release we have continued the deprecation process for the following managed components in the System Administration workspace:

A warning message on each component indicates that they do not function in this release and are scheduled to be removed in a future release.

Engagement Currency Improvements

If your org is configured to support multiple currencies, the Engagement Analytics dashboards now display values in the currency of the engagement record.

For more information, see New Features and Enhancements in Business Analytics Spring 2022 in the Business Analytics Help.

To support this feature, we have added a new step in the Engagement feature in the Feature Console. The feature step enables you to automatically add the Currency field to the default engagement compact and page layouts.

For more information, see Enabling the Engagement Feature.

Engagement in Accounting

We have extended Engagement functionality to Accounting, adding the Engagement field to sales invoices and sales credit notes. This field is automatically populated when you create sales invoices or credit notes in Accounting using the SRP integration.

To support this feature, we have added a new step in the Engagement feature in the Feature Console. The feature step enables you to automatically add the Sales Invoice and Sales Credit Note related lists to the default Engagement page layouts.

For more information, see Enabling the Engagement Feature.

FDN Manage Queue Status Component

We have added a new FDN Manage Queue Status Lightning component to Foundations. This component enables you to view and manage queue messages for various processes. In Spring 2022, the PSA Direct for Jira integration uses the component on the PSA Direct for Jira Queue Status Lightning tab.

For more information, see PSA Direct for Jira Queue Status in the Integrations Help.

Deprecated Products in Product Updates

When a package is three or more versions behind the latest version it becomes deprecated and is no longer maintained by FinancialForce. A Unmaintained version icon. now displays next to the updates title and the org containing the deprecated package in the product versions section.

For more information, see Working with Product Updates and Versions.

Access Errors in Product Updates

If there is a problem retrieving the org data, an error message now displays Unmaintained version icon. on the main product updates page. The Product Versions button is not available when an access error displays. Refreshing your browser to reload the org data rectifies most access errors. If the problem persists contact technical support.

For more information, see Working with Product Updates and Versions.

Fixes

Fixes are now listed on the Known Issues page of the FinancialForce Community. You can access this page from the Release Hub menu. For a brief description of the issues that have been fixed in this version of Foundations, see the related section of the Known Issues page.
