PSA Lightning Components Overview

FinancialForce provides PSA custom Lightning components that you can add to Lightning pages. You can also customize these components. You need permissions to access and use FinancialForce Lightning components.

You can use Customer Success Cloud Lightning components in PSA. For more information about these components, see Setting up Customer Success Cloud in the Customer Success Cloud Help.

To add a component to a Lightning page:

  1. From Setup, navigate to the Lightning App Builder.
  2. Navigate to the Lightning page that you want to add a component to.
  3. Click and drag a component on to the relevant part of the Lightning page layout.
  4. [Optional] Use the options in the component properties to configure the component. See below for information about how to customize each type of component.
  5. Save and activate the Lightning page.

You need the following types of permission to access and use FinancialForce Lightning components:

  • Apex class access
  • Tab access
  • Object
  • Field

For information about the permissions required for a specific Lightning component, see the relevant help topic.

Customizing PSA Lightning Components

The Details section in the PSA Contact Card component displays Region, Practice, and Group by default. To customize the fields displayed:

  1. Modify the field set that you want to use to include additional fields.
  2. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Resource Request or Contact Lightning record page.
  3. Click the PSA Contact Card component and in the properties pane, select a field set from the Custom Fields Field Set picklist. For more information, see Contact Field Sets.
  4. Save your changes.

To exclude resource requests from the Resource Schedule section of the PSA Contact Card component:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Resource Request or Contact Lightning record page.
  2. Click the PSA Contact Card component and in the properties pane, deselect Show Resource Requests.
  3. Save your changes.

To configure the PSA Contact Card component to display useful fields when you hover over an assignment or a resource request in the Availability calendar:

  1. On the Assignment and Resource Request objects, create new field sets or identify existing field sets that contain the fields you require. For information on creating and editing field sets, see the Salesforce Help. For more information on the field sets available, see Assignment Field Sets and Resource Request Field Sets.
    Note: Where there is a lookup to another object, although it is possible to add fields from the lookup object to a field set, these are not supported and are not displayed in the hover details. As a workaround, you can create a custom formula field on the Assignment or Resource Request object, and use the formula field to obtain the value from the field on the lookup object.
  2. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Resource Request or Contact Lightning record page.
  3. Click the PSA Contact Card component and in the properties pane, select the relevant field sets from the following picklists:
    • Hover Details Field Set on Assignments
    • Hover Details Field Set on Resource Requests
      • Note: The default values are None, where no hover details are displayed. Also, if a selected field set does not contain any valid fields, hover details are not displayed.
  4. Save your changes.

To configure the PSA Contact Card component to show a resource's scheduled working time on relevant assignments and resource requests as an hourly value in the Resource Schedule section:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Resource Request or Contact Lightning record page.
  2. Click the PSA Contact Card component and in the properties pane, select Show Scheduled Time in Hours.
  3. Save your changes.

To display a resource's logged hours on the Availability calendar and Resource Schedule summary bar on the PSA Contact Card, select the Contact Card Show Logged Hours checkbox on any pages or components that contain the PSA Contact Card Lightning component.

For example, to display logged hours on the Project Manager Work Planner:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the relevant Lightning page.
  2. In Lightning App Builder, click the PSA Project Manager Work Planner component.
  3. In the properties pane, select the Contact Card Show Logged Hours checkbox.
  4. Save your changes and activate the page if required.
Note:

The hourly value is calculated using the assignment or resource request’s schedule and the date range selected in the Resource Filter.

To enable your users to submit expenses against assignments or milestones, select the relevant checkbox in the properties pane.

To include additional fields and select a field set:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Modify the field set that you want to use to control additional fields in the PSA Expense Entry component.
    • Create a new field set containing the fields you require.
  2. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, click the PSA Expense Entry component.
    All Expense Report object field sets are populated in the Custom Filters Field Set picklist. The “None” option is initially set as the default.
  3. Do one or both of the following:
    • Enter the API name of the field set you want to use to display editable fields in the Editable Field Set API Name field in the properties pane.
    • Enter the API name of the field set you want to use to display read-only fields in the Read-Only Field Set API Name field in the properties pane.
  4. Save and activate your changes.
  5. [Optional] Set your changes as the org wide default and click Close.

To use this component, you must first specify the object containing the records that require approval or rejection, such as the Expense Report and Timecard objects.

To select the object that provides records for approval or rejection:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, in the properties pane for the PSA Mass Approval component, select the name of the object in the Object Name field. Only objects that approval processes have been created on are displayed.
  2. Enter a batch size in the Record Batch Size field. The default is 400.
    Warning:

    Do not adjust the Record Batch Size without first consulting Customer Support.

  3. Enter the API name of the field set that you want to display columns in the Field Set API Name field.
  4. [Optional] Enter a component title in the Component Title field. Leave this blank to use the default title.

This component enables you to manage skills and certifications for multiple resources that you have permission to edit.

You can select your own fields sets or existing field sets to use in the component grids and filters:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the relevant Lightning page.
  2. Click the PSA Mass Manage Skills and Certifications component.
  3. In the properties pane, select field sets for the relevant grid columns or filter fields that you want to display. Selecting --None-- displays the relevant default columns and fields.
  4. Save your changes and activate the page, if required.

For information on creating and editing field sets, see the Salesforce Help.

To customize the PSA Project Gantt component:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Project Lightning record page.
  2. In Lightning App Builder, click the PSA Project Gantt component.
  3. Use the fields in the properties pane to customize the component. For more information, see Project Gantt Lightning Component Properties.
  4. Save your changes and activate the page if required.

To customize the PSA Project Manager Work Planner component:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Project Lightning record page.
  2. In Lightning App Builder, click the PSA Project Manager Work Planner component.
  3. Use the fields in the properties pane to customize the component. For more information, see Project Manager Work Planner Lightning Component Properties.
  4. Save your changes and activate the page if required.

To set the component height:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Project Lightning page.
  2. In Lightning App Builder, click the PSA Project Team Schedule component.
  3. In the properties pane, enter a value from 100 to 10,000 in the Pixel Height field. We recommend that you use the default value of 400 pixels.
  4. Save your changes and activate the page if required.

You can select a field set to display custom fields when hovering over assignments or resource requests.

Note:

--None-- displays only default fields, not custom fields.

To configure the component to use field sets when you hover over an assignment or a resource request:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Project Lightning page.
  2. In Lightning App Builder, click the PSA Project Team Schedule component.
  3. In the properties pane, select the relevant field sets from the following picklists:
  4. Save your changes and activate the page if required.

Including Additional Fields in Resource Details

You can include additional fields in the Details section of Resource Details (PSA Contact Card), when it opens from the PSA Project Team Schedule component.

To include additional fields:

  1. Modify the field set as required that you want to use to include additional fields.
  2. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Project Lightning page.
  3. In Lightning App Builder, click the PSA Project Team Schedule component.
  4. In the properties pane, select the required field set from the Contact Card Custom Fields Field Set picklist.
  5. Save your changes and activate the page if required.

Including Resource Requests in Resource Details

You can include resource requests in the Resource Schedule section of Resource Details (PSA Contact Card), when it opens from PSA Project Team Schedule component.

To include resource requests:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Project Lightning page.
  2. In Lightning App Builder, click the PSA Project Team Schedule component.
  3. In the properties pane, select Contact Card Show Resource Requests.
  4. Save your changes and activate the page if required.

Showing Resource Scheduled Working Time in Resource Details

You can configure the Resource Schedule section of Resource Details (PSA Contact Card), when it opens from thePSA Project Team Schedule component, to show a resource's scheduled working time on relevant assignments and resource requests as an hourly value.

To show scheduled time in hours:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Project Lightning page.
  2. In Lightning App Builder, click the PSA Project Team Schedule component.
  3. In the properties pane, select Contact Card Show Scheduled Time in Hours.
  4. Save your changes and activate the page if required.

Selecting Logged Hours in Resource Details

You can configure the Resource Schedule section of Resource Details (PSA Contact Card), when it opens from the PSA Project Team Schedule component, to show a resource's logged hours.

To show a resource's logged hours:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Project Lightning page.
  2. In Lightning App Builder, click the PSA Project Team Schedule component.
  3. In the properties pane, select Contact Card Show Logged Hours.
  4. Save your changes and activate the page if required.

You can show or hide standard fields, control field behavior, and add you own custom fields to the Resource Filter.

Include Recommended Resources Default

To enable Intelligent Staffing, select Include Recommended Resources Default to set the Include Recommended Resources field in the Resource Filter to True. For more information, see Intelligent Staffing for a Resource Request.

Showing or Hiding the Skills Section

You can hide the Skills section in the PSA Resource filter.

To show or hide the Skills section:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, in the properties pane for the PSA Resource Filter component, select or deselect Show Skills Filter.
  2. Save and activate your changes.
  3. [Optional] Set your changes as the org wide default and click Close.

Include Sub-Regions by Default

To include sub-regions by default:

From Setup | Lightning App Builder, in the properties pane for the PSA Resource Filter component, select Include Sub-Regions by Default.

Enabling Minimum Resource Availability

You can set a default minimum availability value that resources must have for them to be returned in filter results.

To enable minimum resource availability:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, in the properties pane for the PSA Resource Filter component, select Show Minimum Availability Filter.
  2. Enter a value between 0 and 100 in the Minimum Availability Default Value (%) field. The default value is Blank. When Blank, there is no change to filter search behavior.

Showing or Hiding Standard Fields

You can show or hide the standard fields in the PSA Resource filter:

To show or hide standard fields:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, in the properties pane for the PSA Resource Filter component, select to show or deselect to hide the following:
    • Show Role Filter
    • Show Resource Filter
    • Show Region Filter
    • Show Practice Filter
    • Show Group Filter
  3. Save and activate your changes.
  4. [Optional] Set your changes as the org wide default and click Close.

Controlling Role, Region, Practice, and Group Field Default Value Behavior

You can determine the default behavior of several fields for your users in the Resource Filter. You can control whether the fields default to the value from the resource request record, or display no default value.

Select “Value from record” or “No default value” from the corresponding picklists in the properties pane for the following fields:

  • Role Filter Behavior
  • Region Filter Behavior
  • Practice Filter Behavior
  • Group Filter Behavior

Adding Standard and Custom Contact Object Fields

You can add standard and custom filter fields of the following supported types to the PSA Resource Filter using a Contact object field set and use the fields to filter resources in the Resource Filter:

  • Boolean
  • Lookup
  • Number
  • Picklist
  • Text

To use custom fields as filters in the Resource Filter, you must add them to a Contact object field set and the permission set you are using for the Resource filter. Any unsupported field types that you add to a Contact object field set do not display in the Resource Filter. Fields marked as required in the field set are not displayed as required fields in the Resource Filter.

To add custom fields and select a field set:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Modify the field set that you want to use to control additional custom fields in the Resource Filter component.
    • Create a new field set with the fields you require.
  2. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, click the PSA Resource Filter component.
    All Contact object field sets are populated in the Custom Filters Field Set picklist. The “None” option is initially set as the default.
  3. Select a field set from the Custom Filters Field Set picklist in the properties pane.
  4. [Optional] Set to "None" to display standard default filter fields only.
  5. Save and activate your changes.
  6. [Optional] Set your changes as the org wide default and click Close.

You can show or hide standard fields and add you own custom fields on the Resource Optimizer page.

Adding Additional Fields to the Data Table

You can add standard and custom fields of the following supported types to the PSA Resource Optimizer data table columns:

  • Boolean
  • Currency
  • Date
  • Percent
  • Picklist
  • Reference
  • String
  • Text area

To add custom fields and select a field set:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Modify the field set that you want to use to control additional custom fields in the Resource Optimizer component.
    • Create a new field set with the fields you require.
  2. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, click the PSA Resource Optimizer component. The --None-- option is initially set as the default.
  3. Select a field set from the Custom Columns Field Set picklist in the properties pane.
  4. [Optional] Set to --None-- to display standard default filter fields only.
  5. Save your changes and activate the page if required.
  6. [Optional] Set your changes as the org wide default and click Close.

Customizing the Contact Card Component on the Resource Optimizer Page

You can customize the Contact Card, which opens when you select a resource in the data table on the Resource Optimizer page.

Note:

There is no option to select a field set to show tooltips for resource requests and assignments, as there is when the Contact Card is configured as a component.

Adding Additional Fields to the Contact Card Details Section

To add additional fields:

  1. Modify the Contact field set as required that you want to use to add additional fields.
  2. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Resource Request Lightning page.
  3. Click the PSA Resource Optimizer component.
  4. In the component properties, select the required field set from the Contact Card Custom Fields Field Set picklist. For more information, see Contact Field Sets.
  5. Save your changes and activate the page if required.

Customize the Hover Fields in the Resource Schedule Modal

To configure the Resource Optimizer to display useful fields when you hover over an assignment or a resource request in the Resource Schedule Modal:

  1. On the Assignment and Resource Request objects, create new field sets or identify existing field sets that contain the fields you require.
    For information on creating and editing field sets, see the Salesforce Help.
    Note:

    Where there is a lookup to another object, although it is possible to add fields from the lookup object to a field set, these are not supported and are not displayed in the hover details. As a workaround, you can create a custom formula field on the Assignment or Resource Request object, and use the formula field to obtain the value from the field on the lookup object.

  2. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Resource Optimizer Lightning record page.
  3. Click the PSA Resource Optimizer component and in the properties pane, select the relevant field sets from the following picklists:
    • Hover Details Field Set for Resource Requests
    • Hover Details Field Set for Assignments
  4. Save your changes.

Some fields are fixed and cannot be changed on the hover detail, such as the Proposed Start Date and Proposed End Date fields. For more information on the field sets available, see Assignment Field Sets and Resource Request Field Sets.

Note:

On proposed Resource Requests the Proposed Start Date and Proposed End Date fields are added by default, however if you add the start and end date in the field set, the dates entered in the record fields from the Resource Request are displayed.

Excluding Resource Requests from the Contact Card Resource Schedule Section

You can exclude resource requests from the Resource Schedule section of the Contact Card.

To exclude resource requests from the Contact Card:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Resource Request Lightning page.
  2. Click the PSA Resource Optimizer component.
  3. In the component properties, deselect Contact Card Show Resource Requests.
  4. Save your changes and activate the page if required.

Showing Resource Scheduled Working Time

To configure the Contact Card to show a resource's scheduled working time on relevant assignments and resource requests as an hourly value:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Resource Request Lightning page.
  2. Click the PSA Resource Optimizer component.
  3. In the properties pane, select Contact Card Show Scheduled Time in Hours.
  4. Save your changes and activate the page if required.

To customize the contact field rows displayed in the Compare Resources window:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Resource Request Lightning page.
  2. Click the PSA Resource Schedule component.
  3. In the properties pane, select the required field set from the Compare Resources Contact Field Set picklist.
  4. Save your changes and activate the page if required.
Note:

We recommend that you do not add any Salesforce fields to the field set where their value is automatically generated. For example, Created By, or Created Date.

You can specify the default scheduling strategy to display in the Scheduling Strategy field in the Manage Schedule window when your users click Manage Schedule in the PSA Resource Schedule component. For more information, see Scheduling Strategies Overview.

To specify the default scheduling strategy:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Resource Request Lightning page.
  2. Click the PSA Resource Schedule component.
  3. In the properties pane, select a default scheduling strategy from the Default Scheduling Strategy drop-down.
  4. Save your changes and activate the page if required.

You can determine the number of months to display before and after the current resource request, to show all data within those dates. For example, if the filter dates are June 1, 2021 to September 1, 2021, any resource requests and assignments that overlap with March 1, 2021 to December 1, 2021 are displayed.

The date padding default value is 3 months before and after the current resource request. Other Valid values are 0 if you want no padding, and between 1 to 24 if you do want padding.

To set the date padding:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Resource Request Lightning page.
  2. Click the PSA Resource Schedule component.
  3. In the properties pane, enter a value from 0 to 24 months in the Date Padding field.
  4. Save your changes and activate the page if required.

You can select field sets to display custom fields when hovering over assignments and resource requests. To customize the PSA Resource Schedule component to use field sets when you hover over an assignment or a resource request:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Resource Request Lightning page.
  2. Click the PSA Resource Schedule component.
  3. In the properties pane for the PSA Resource Schedule component, select the relevant field sets from the following picklists:
  4. Save your changes and activate the page if required.
Note:

--None-- displays only default fields, not custom fields.

To set the component height:

  1. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the Project Lightning page.
  2. In Lightning App Builder, click the PSA Project Team Schedule component.
  3. In the properties pane, enter a value from 100 to 10,000 in the Pixel Height field. We recommend that you use the default value of 400 pixels.
  4. Save your changes and activate the page if required.

You can customize the columns displayed and set a default scheduling strategy.

Customizing the Resourcing Component Columns

You can determine different columns for each instance of the resourcing component, for example, when using the component on multiple pages, or multiple instances of the component on the same page. You can determine the columns to suit your organization including adjusting their positions.

You can use an existing field set to control the columns you want to display in the Resource list. For example, the Assign Multiple Resources to Project Search Columns. This field set contains five fields by default. Alternatively, you can select any Contact field set to control the columns displayed. Column width adjustments are maintained during Resource list user sessions, and also when you filter resources in the Resource Filter and click Reset, Clear, or Apply.

Note:

Column width adjustments are not maintained between PSA user sessions or when you reload the Resource Request page.

To modify the fields displayed as columns on the PSA Resource Request page:

  1. Modify the field set as required that you want to use to control the columns in the Resourcing component.
  2. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, in the properties pane for the Resourcing component, select the required field set from the Column Field Set picklist.
  3. Save, activate, and set your changes as the org wide default.

Specifying the Default Scheduling Strategy

To specify the default scheduling strategy for your users in the Schedule tab, select a default scheduling strategy to use from the Default Scheduling Strategy drop-down in the properties pane for the Resourcing component. For more information, see Scheduling Strategies Overview.

Specifying the Resource Availability Display Format

To display resource availability values in hours or percentages:

From Setup | Lightning App Builder, in the properties pane for the PSA Resourcing component, select an option in the Availability Display Format picklist.

Customizing Rows in the Compare Resources Window

You can customize the contact field rows displayed in the Compare Resources window.

Note:

We recommend that you do not add any Salesforce fields to the field set where their value is automatically generated. For example, Created By, or Created Date.

From Setup | Lightning App Builder, in the properties pane for the Resourcing component, select the required field set from the Compare Resources Contact Field Set picklist.

To enable your users to log time against assignments, milestones, and project tasks, select the relevant checkbox in the properties pane.

To include additional fields using field sets:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Modify the field sets you want to use to control the additional fields displayed in the PSA Time Entry component.
    • Create new field sets containing the fields you require.
  2. From Setup | Lightning App Builder, select the relevant Lightning page.
  3. Click the PSA Time Entry component and do any or all of the following:
    • From the Editable Field Set field in the properties pane, select the field set containing the editable additional fields you want to display.
    • From the Read-Only Field Set field in the properties pane, select the field set containing the read-only additional fields you want to display.
    • From the Editable Notes Field Set field in the properties pane, select the field set containing the editable additional fields you want to display in the Notes view.
    • From the Read-Only Notes Field Set field in the properties pane, select the field set containing the read-only additional fields you want to display in the Notes view.
  4. Save and activate your changes.
  5. [Optional] Set your changes as the org wide default and click Close.

To select the actions that are visible to users in these components:

  1. Click the component. The properties pane opens. By default, all checkboxes are selected.
  2. Deselect the checkboxes for the actions to be hidden from users.
