Budget Comparison Dashboard

The Budget Comparison dashboard enables you to:

  • Compare budgets with budget versions and actuals.
  • View the variance and variance details.
  • View the margin trend.

You can use the filters to filter by company and corporate currency, by general ledger account, and by annual, quarterly, and monthly periods.

Note:

To view multiple currencies on the Budget Comparison Dashboard, you must configure the exchange rate for the desired currencies in Planning. For more information, see Creating Foundations Exchange Rates.

Managing Filters

Your filter selections determine the data displayed on the dashboard charts. By default, the filters panel is hidden in this dashboard. You can toggle between hiding and displaying the filters panel by clicking . To set or change your filters, use the following drop-down options:

  • Year: select the year you want to see data for.
  • Quarter: select the quarter you want to see data for.
  • Month: select the month you want to see data for.
  • Currency: select the currency you want to see data for.
  • Company: select the company you want to see data for.
  • General Ledger Account: select the general ledger account you want to see data for.

Using the Summary Page

The Summary page displays the following charts:

  • Bar Chart: Enables you to compare the income, expense, and margin totals for budgets, budget versions, and actuals.
  • Line Chart: Calculates the margin trend.
  • Variance: Calculates the margin variance.

You can select the budgets, budget versions, and actuals that you want to compare using the Source Type and Source Name filters. You can also filter the results further by year, quarter, month, currency, company, and general ledger account.

Click View Details to see further details about budget comparisons, income and expense categories, variance, variance percentage, and state.

Using the Details Page

The Details page enables you to do the following:

  • Compare the total income, total expenses, total margin, variance, and variance percentage of a budget with a budget version or actual.
  • Compare the total income, total expenses, total margin, variance, variance percentage, and state of income and expense categories.
Note:

Use the State field to show whether the variance of the budget version is favorable or unfavorable.

You can use the filters on this page to filter by year, quarter, month, currency, company, and general ledger account.

Click Back to Summary to go back to the Summary page.
