New Features and Enhancements in Foundations Spring 2023
The following new features have been introduced in the Spring 2023 release of Foundations.
If you are upgrading from a previous version, see Upgrading to Foundations Spring 2023. This provides a summary of the items that have been added for each feature and details of any required upgrade steps.
FinancialForce is Now Certinia
We have made the following changes to align with our new Certinia brand:
- The publisher name has been updated to Certinia
- Package names no longer reference FinancialForce
- In most cases, text referring to FinancialForce has been replaced with Certinia
For more information about these updates and related text changes, see the Package Name Updates article in the Certinia Community and the Technical Documentation Pack.
To learn more about our rebrand, visit the Certinia Community for a message from our CEO, Scott Brown.
Certinia Trailhead: Release Highlights
If you want to learn more about the new features in this release, see the Foundations - Spring 2023 Release Highlights Certinia Trailhead module. This module will guide you through the new features in our Foundations product.
Administrator Navigation Enhancements
We’ve added new links to the System Administration workspace and the Foundations & Integrations task launcher to help you navigate to common Foundations pages. The new links enable you to easily access all your Foundations tools from one place and help you to stay organized.
Both pages now contain links to pages in the following functional areas:
- Configuration & Data Management
- Currency & Exchange Rates
- Foundational Objects
- Messaging
- Sequencing
- User Management
For more information, see System Administration Workspace and Foundations and Integrations Task Launcher Overview.
Apply Personas to Existing Users
We have updated the Persona Workbench to enable you to apply a persona to an existing user. Previously, you could only link a persona to a user when creating a new user. The Apply Personas page enables you to apply additional personas to one or more users in bulk.
You can access the new page from the Apply Personas tab in the User Management app or from the Foundations & Integrations Task Launcher page.
For more information, see Applying Personas to a User.
Persona Enhancements
When creating a new user, a suggested alias is now provided when entering the user's first and last name. By default, the alias consists of the first letter of the user's first name and the first four letters of the last name. You can update this value if you require.
We have also moved the Alias field when creating a new user so that it is easier to check or update the value. It is now listed directly after the Last Name field.
For more information about getting started with user management tools or converting existing templates to personas, see User Management Templates and Personas.
Feature Console Status
We’ve added a new "In Progress" status to the Feature Console page to help you filter the features you’re actively working on. You can select this status when viewing the list of features to show disabled features that contain at least one completed step.
For more information about using the Feature Console, see Feature Console.
Feature Console Filters
Selected filters are now stored and remain selected when you navigate away from the Feature Console page. This information is stored in a new custom setting called Feature Console Filter Settings. A new record is created for each user who selects filters on the Feature Console page.
For more information, see Feature Console Filter Settings.
Feature Migration
We have updated the way we store IDs for Feature Console activation records to ensure that you can migrate these records between your orgs.
By default, all orgs that are new to Foundations Spring 2023 have this functionality. If you’re upgrading to Spring 2023, we have provided a Feature Console feature to help you get set up.
For more information, see Optimizing Feature Console Migration.
Enhancement and Renaming of the FF Highlights Component and Its Configuration
We have added the ability to add KPI cards to this component. As part of this enhancement we have changed labels and functionality in the following areas.
App Launcher
In the App Launcher, the Highlights Configuration Builder app is now Cards Panel Configuration Builder.
Configuration Builder
In the Configuration Builder:
- The tab is now Cards Panel Configuration Builder.
- Highlights Panel is now Cards Panel.
- A new drop-down list enables you to select a Highlight or KPI card type.
- Hover details on the cards now include the card type.
- The card window titles are now Add Card and Edit Card for any type of card.
The Lightning App Builder Component
The FF Highlights component is now FDN Cards Panel.
For more information see:
- Setting up Certinia Card Panels
- Certinia Cards Panel Component Overview

- Certinia KPI Card Fields
Certinia Help
We have added support for additional pages in the Certinia Help component. If you’re already using the Certinia Help component, all additional links are available automatically.
If you’ve not already started using the Certinia Help component, see Certinia Help Overview.
Scheduled Update Preflight Check
We have added a preflight check to the scheduled updates workflow. This check runs automatically at set intervals prior to the update schedule start date.
The preflight check determines the number of org object custom relationships existing after upgrade. If the custom relationship limit is exceeded, the upgrade will not take place and an error message displays on the customer case associated with the product upgrade.
For more information, see Preflight Check.
Automatic Update Schedule Enrollment
Automatic update schedule enrollment is now available for production orgs. Automatic update schedule enrollment becomes active once you have chosen an update schedule for each major release for the current year.
For more information, see Managing Major Update Schedules.
Fixes
Fixes are listed on the Known Issues page of the Certinia Community. You can access this page from the Community Support Hub. For a brief description of the issues that have been fixed in this version of Foundations, see the relevant section of the Known Issues page.
