Creating a New Reporting Filter
Refer below for instructions to create reporting filters with either simple conditions or extended relationship conditions.
- Click the Reporting Filters tab.
- Click New.
- Enter a name for your new reporting filter, such as Toronto or Sales Revenue.
- [Optional] Edit a unique name for this reporting filter. If you leave the Unique Name field blank, the reporting filter name that you provided in the previous step is used.
- [Optional] Enter a suitable description.
- Click Add Condition.
- Click on the (Object ...) control.
- Select a primary standard or custom object from the object list. Use the Filter control to limit the number of items returned.
- Select a field of a supported type from the field list. Field types are displayed for information.
- Choose a compatible operator to use as part of this condition.
- Enter either a specific value or a prompt tag Placeholder used instead of a specific value in filter conditions. The real value is provided by the user at run time..
- [Optional] Append a prompted value adjustment formula to the end of the prompt tag. See Sorting Reporting Prompts for more details.
- [Optional] If you have entered a prompt tag, select the checkbox.
- Click Set Value. After entering a date, click Set Date.
- [Optional] Click Add Condition again to continue to add more conditions. The selected object is fixed and cannot be changed within the same filter definition.
- [Optional] Click Add Filter Logic to change the default AND relationship between each filter condition. See Filter Logic Tips for more information.
- When you are finished, click Save.
To remove an existing filter condition, click the icon to the right of the filter condition. To edit an existing reporting filter, click the Edit link next to the name of the reporting filter on a reporting filter list view.
- Perform the first seven steps of the simple procedure described earlier.
- Select a primary standard or custom object from the object list. Use the Filter control to limit the number of items returned.
- Select a reference field from the field list. The name of the referenced object is displayed on a new line.
- [Optional] Select another reference field from the field list on the related object. The name of the referenced object is displayed on a new line.
- [Optional] Repeat the previous step as many times as you like.
- Select a field of a type other than reference from the field list on the referenced object.
- Choose a compatible operator to use as part of this condition.
- Enter either a specific value or a prompt tag Placeholder used instead of a specific value in filter conditions. The real value is provided by the user at run time..

- [Optional] If you entered a prompt tag, select the checkbox.
- Click Set Value. After entering a date, click Set Date.

- When you are finished, click Save.
