Background Posting Scheduler Settings

Some aspects of Accounting are controlled by custom settings. From Setup, click Develop | Custom Settings. You must be signed in with system administrator permissions to perform these tasks. See the Salesforce Help for information on how to maintain custom settings.

The Accounting Settings custom setting includes settings for the Background Posting Scheduler. See Setting up the Background Posting Scheduler for setup information.

Accounting Settings
Field Description
Background Posting Retry The number of minutes the Background Posting Scheduler (BPS) will wait before trying to run again. For example, if the BPS tries to run when a user has just started it manually, the scheduled job will wait for this number of minutes before retrying. This must be a number between 0 and 999. The default is 15.
Background Worker Attempts

The number of attempts the BPS will make to process a task. The default is 3.

If a document fails to post for the number of attempts specified, its status is set back to "In Progress" so that you can fix the error before submitting the document for posting again.

Background Worker Attempts Avalara

The number of attempts the BPS will make to process an Avalara task. The default is 3.

If a document with tax calculated by Avalara fails to post for the number of attempts specified, its status is set back to "In Progress" so that you can fix the error before submitting the document for posting again.

Generate BPS Email Notifications Indicates that email notifications are sent when the BPS runs. When posting documents the email is sent to the user who posted the document, but for some processes the email is sent to the user who started the BPS. By default this checkbox is selected.
Note that the Chatter Notification, Email Notification, and Task Notification custom settings override this setting. So if you want to disable BPS email notifications you must disable the others as well.
