Assigning Users to Companies

Note:

In most organizations, you will need administrator-level permissions to grant users access to companies. See the Salesforce Help for more information.

Users cannot use Accounting until they have access to one or more companies, and at least one of these accessible companiesClosed A list of one or more active companies to which a user has access. is set as their current companyClosed The company in which you are working. This is represented by the company queue to which you, and new instances of objects you create, are assigned..

This is a two-step procedure:

  1. Grant each user access to one or more active companies. In a single-company organization, the only company automatically becomes the user's current company.
  2. In a multi-company organization, set each user's current company. See Setting your Current Company for more information.

The current company setting assigns the user to the equivalent company queueClosed A location within the underlying Salesforce platform used to represent a company. When you activate a new company, a corresponding company queue is created..

Granting access to a company

To grant a user access to a company:

  1. Click the User Companies tab.
  2. Click New next to Recent User Companies on the home page.
  3. Specify the user that you want to assign to a company.
  4. Specify the companyClosed A self-balancing accounting unit within your organization. to which you want this user to have access.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Repeat for all other companies that you want this user to be able to access, and for all other users.
