Analysis Mappings Overview

Analysis mappings in Foundations enable you to display corresponding analysis item record types and view and select associated values using a Lightning component.

You can create analysis mappings for any analysis item record type, such as Cost Center or Industry Type, and specify the target objects in your org that store this data. You can add the Analysis Items Lightning component to any Lightning record page to enable your users to view and edit values directly in the component.

Analysis mappings functionality enables you to:

  • Define an analysis mapping for each analysis item record type to represent reportable categories
  • Group all target fields that store data for a specific record type
  • Easily search for and select centralized data on any object using the new Analysis Items Lightning component
  • Report on and analyze analysis items data accurately
  • Reduce data duplication
  • Reduce time spent managing separate lists
  • Reduce page layout management
  • Avoid limits for Salesforce required lookup filters

The Analysis Items Lightning component displays any analysis item lookups on your org that exist as an entry in an analysis mapping. The name of the associated analysis mapping is displayed as the label of the filtered lookup. It is possible to add a field to more than one analysis mapping. When displayed in the component, the following rules apply to lookups that are entries in several analysis mappings:

  • The field label includes the name of all associated analysis mappings, listed alphabetically
  • Values from all associated record types are available to select

If you want a lookup to only store values for one category, create a dedicated lookup for each analysis mapping.
