About Action Views

The Action Views function enables you to inquire on Reporting data and any other data held on the Salesforce platform. The function relies on dataviews which define the object data that can be interrogated. A dataview might focus on one object, such as Opportunity, or might join several objects together for more complex inquiries.

You can display your data in a grid or as a chart.

You can add related content panes to action views. A related content pane shows various types of information in the action view results. The information shown could include address and contact information, or tasks and chatter posts associated with the account. Depending on permissions, you can edit some information via the related content pane.

The Action Views function is subject to normal Salesforce security, so when you run an action view you cannot see data that you do not have permission to see.

Note:

When setting up and running action views, dates are shown using GMT. The time zone specified for your Salesforce user is not applied. Additionally, where date/time fields are used, the time is assumed to be midnight of the specified date.
