New Features and Enhancements in Services CPQ Summer 2023

The following new features have been introduced in the Summer 2023 release of Services CPQ.

If you are upgrading from a previous version, see Upgrading to Services CPQ Summer 2023. This provides a summary of the items that have been added for each feature and details of any required upgrade steps.

Release Cadence

Services CPQ is moving from being released on a monthly cadence to every two months. As a result, the Services CPQ releases over the rest of the calendar year will be Summer 2023, September 2023, and Winter 2024.

Creating an Estimate

We have enhanced the user experience of the estimate creation process. Existing estimates and templates are now displayed in separate cards by default, or you can click Create Blank to create a blank estimate. To change the view to a list, you can select List from the button menu. Your selection is retained whenever you use the same browser on the same device.

Details about each estimate are displayed in the description of the cards and in the columns of the list view. For more information, see Creating an Estimate and Creating an Estimate Template.

Services CPQ – Salesforce CPQ Connector

We have renamed the Push to Quote action to Sync with Quote on the estimate record page, and have added a new Sync with Estimate button which your administrator can add to the quote line editor using Feature Console. When records are deleted from an estimate they are now also deleted from the associated quote if they have been synced, and vice versa. For more information, see Syncing an Estimate with a Quote and Setting up the Services CPQ – Salesforce CPQ Connector.

Product Field

We've added a new field enabling you to select the active product you want to use to create an opportunity product when pushing records independent of estimate products to opportunity. This field is in a new Records Independent of Estimate Product section in the Details tab on the estimate record page. To accommodate this change, we've removed the Create Opportunity Product Window from the push to opportunity, create a project from an estimate, and adding an estimate to a project flows. For more information, see the following topics:

Estimated Expenses

We have added a Non-Billable checkbox to estimated expenses, which enables you to add expenses that are not billed to the customer to your estimates. A budget of type “Internal Budget” is created when a project is created from an estimate that has non-billable estimated expenses. For more information, see Adding Estimated Expenses to an Estimate.

Editing Pushed Schedules

You can now edit schedules that have been pushed to opportunity. Previously, schedules created in the Hours Breakdown could not be edited after being pushed to opportunity. For more information, see Pushing an Estimate to an Opportunityand Adding Role Requests to an Estimate.

Discounting by Bill Rate

We have added a Discounted Bill Rate column to the Builder, which your administrator can enable. This enables you to enter a value to override a role request's bill rate as a discount. The Discount (Percent) column is populated relative to how much the bill rate has been decreased by. For more information, see Discounting Estimates and Estimate Builder Lightning Component Properties.

Disabling Triggers

We have added new fields to the Services CPQ Trigger Settings custom setting, so that you can now disable the triggers of any Services CPQ object that's related to an estimate. For more information, see Managing Custom Settings from Setup.

Warning: Contact Certinia Customer Support before enabling these settings to avoid potential corruption of created data.
