Creating Accounting Currencies

Note:

In single-currency modeClosed, a single accounting currency record is automatically created for you when you activate your organization's first company. When this accounting currency record exists for a single-currency organizationClosed, you cannot create new accounting currency records.

To create a new accounting currencyClosed in your current companyClosed:

  1. If you have multiple companies, make sure your current company is the correct one.
  2. Click the Accounting Currencies tab.
  3. Click New next to Recent Accounting Currencies on the home page.
  4. In the Currency field, select a Salesforce active currencyClosed. If you don't see this field, ask your administratorClosed to add it to your page layout.
  5. In the ISO Code field, type the same three-character ISO codeClosed that you selected in the Currency field.
  6. Specify the number of decimal places to which values in this currency are expressed.
  7. Enter the AR Write-Off Limit which will be used when completing the Accounts Receivables Write-Off process.
  8. If this currency is the current company's home currency, set the Home checkbox.
  9. If this currency is the current company's dual currency, set the Dual checkbox.
  10. When you have finished, click Save. You can also click Save & New to save the changes to the current record and then immediately begin to create another.

If relevant org-wide exchange rates already exist when you create a new accounting currency in a company that uses org-wide exchange rates, these rates can be automatically applied. A warning is displayed.

Note:

You cannot begin to post documents until both a home currencyClosed and a dual currencyClosed exist. In single-currency mode, these are assigned for you when you activate your first company.

The Accounts Receivable Write-Off process does not currently support writing off invoices with negative outstanding values. Enter a positive amount in the AR Write-Off Limit field.
