Placing Contract Lines on Hold for Billing
You can temporarily exclude contract line items from being billed by placing them on hold. The next time the contract is billed, billing document line items are not created for the contract line items that are on hold. While a contract line item is on hold, its billing schedules are unchanged; they remain available for use when billing resumes.
When you are ready to allow the contract line items to be billed again, you release them for billing. Released contract line items are not billed until the next time the contract is billed, then all amounts which would have been billed while the line item was on hold are included.
You can place line items on "Draft", "Active", and "Expired" contracts on hold, and release them for billing.
To place a contract line item on hold:
- On the Billing Contracts tab, click on the contract that has the line item you want to put on hold.
- Click on the contract line item that you want to put on hold.
- On the contract line item's detail page, click Place on Hold.
To release a contract line item from being on hold, so that it can be included in billing processes:
- On the Billing Contracts tab, click on the contract that has the line item you want to release for billing.
- Click on the contract line item that you want to release for billing.
- On the contract line item's detail page, click Release for Billing.
Identifying When Contract Lines Are On Hold
When you place a contract line item on hold, its On Hold checkbox is selected. You can only change the state of this checkbox by clicking the Release for Billing and Place on Hold buttons; you cannot edit it manually.
You can make the On Hold checkbox visible in the custom related list for contract line items and on the Edit Selected Products page, by including it in the Enhanced Contract Additional Fields field set for the Billing Contract Line Item object. For more information, see Billing Contract Field Sets.
A contract shows how many of its line items are on hold in the Lines On Hold Count field. This field is displayed in a highlight panel on the contract's Lightning record page supplied with Billing Central. If you are using a custom Lightning page for billing contracts, you must manually add this panel to your page. You can configure which fields are included in the panel.
