New Features and Enhancements in Financial Report Builder Winter 2024

The following new features have been introduced in the Winter 2024 release of Financial Report Builder.

If you are upgrading from a previous version, see Upgrading to Financial Report Builder Winter 2024. This provides a summary of the items that have been added for each feature and details of any required upgrade steps.

Dependencies on Other Packages

This release of Financial Report Builder requires the following package to be installed:

  • Foundations Summer 2023

You must install this package before installing or upgrading to this release of Financial Report Builder.

You need Analytics to supply datasets. It is possible to use Financial Report Builder with any package. However, for producing statutory financial reports, we recommend using Accounting.

Sorting Columns

From this release, you can sort your table by single columns when you have only one lens. To sort a single column, ensure Repeat Grouping is enabled in the Lens Configuration tab, and click the column's header.

Columns that include dates are sorted from least recent to most recent. Dimension columns are sorted alphabetically, and measure columns are sorted from smallest to largest. If you want to change the sorting direction of your measure column from largest to smallest, for example, you can click the column header to change the direction.

Notes:
  • Sorting a second column overrides the order of the first sorted column. For example, if you initially sort a single column and then subsequently sort a second column, the sorting applied to the second column overrides any sorting applied to the first column.
  • If you have any active subtotals or you have enabled real-time, you cannot sort your columns. Sorting your columns with subtotals or real-time enabled cannot guarantee the correct positioning of these rows.

Edit Access for Configuring Reports

From this release, if you do not have edit access for configuring or modifying reports, the following icons do not appear above your report table:

  • Drilling Configuration
  • FRB report configuration icon.

Edit Access for Configuring Filters

From this release, if you do not have edit access for configuring filters, the following icons do not appear in your filters section:

  • Lightning cog icon.

Dragging and Dropping Multiple Rows

From Winter 2024, you can select multiple rows in the Lens Configuration and Dimension Columns tabs to move them up or down, by simply dragging and dropping your selected rows where you want to place them.

Note: You can still use and to move single rows up or down.

Configuring Board Packs

From this release, you can select multiple reports and group them together as a board pack. This enables you to export your reports together as one single PDF, CSV, or XLSX file. This feature enables exporting reports and saves time, avoiding the need to export each report individually.

To create a board pack:

  1. Select the reports you want to include in your board pack.
  2. Click Pack.
  3. On your mapping window, select the reports with the filters and comments that you want to include. Filters and comments are independent from each other. You can select a report's filters and not include its comments, and you can also include comments without including the report's corresponding filters.
  4. Click Next.

If you want to make use of this feature, you must add the Financial Report Builder Pack button to your required list view. You can add this button manually in the Feature Console.

Note:

You can export board packs to your own device, but you cannot save them within your org.
