About Field Mapping Definitions
The Field Mapping Definitions tab is only available to administrators.
Field mapping definitions are used to map fields from source to target objects. Revenue Management uses field mapping definitions to map source fields to the performance obligation line item. A source object can be any object that contains the source details for performance obligation line items, such as the Accounting sales invoice line item object. For example, you might want to map the Product Name and Unit Price fields on the sales invoice line item object to the Description and SSP fields on the performance obligation line item object.
Revenue Management can generate field mapping definitions automatically from a recognition settings record. So for example if you already have a settings record for the Accounting sales invoice line item object, you can clone it to create a version for use with revenue contracts then generate a field mapping definition for that settings record automatically.
If your source records have custom fields and you want to include them in a field mapping definition you must log in as an administrator to modify the field mapping definition. You can also create field mapping definitions from scratch if you wish. See Managing Field Mapping Definitions for details of how to create and edit field mapping definitions.
