Adding from an Estimate Template

You can copy the records from an estimate to another estimate.

Notes:
  • Your administrator can disable estimate role skills, estimated expenses, and vendor line items in Services CPQ, and specify the field values that are copied. For more information, see Managing Custom Settings from Setup.
  • When an estimate product is added from a template to an estimate, the current version of the source estimate products will be added. The copied estimate products might therefore be different to the instances of the estimate products that are visible on the template. After adding estimate products from a template, if you edit the source estimate product or the instance of the estimate product on the template, your changes will not be reflected on the copied record.
  • Estimate phases are not copied when you add from an estimate template.

To add from an estimate template:

  1. Click ActionsServices CPQ | Add from Template.
  2. Select an estimate to copy from by searching for an estimate using one or more characters anywhere in the estimate name.

The estimates that are listed are controlled by sharing settings. A maximum of 200 estimates are listed.

If you select an estimate in a currency that's different to the estimate you're adding to, the values of any estimated expenses and vendor line items will be converted into the target estimate's.

  3. [Optional] Select an option that reflects the date you want the copied records to start or end in the estimate that they are being copied to. The existing durations are calculated relative to this date:
    • Offset start date from selected date: The earliest record is offset from this date by the same number of days that the earliest record is offset from the estimate start date in the template estimate. All other record dates are then calculated relative to this date.
    • Offset end date from selected date: The latest record is offset from this date by the same number of days that the latest record is offset from the estimate end date in the template estimate. All other record dates are then calculated relative to this date.
    • Starting on selected date: Select a start date for the earliest copied record.
    • Ending on selected date: Select an end date for the latest copied record.

Your option is retained if you are using the same browser on the same computer.

  4. [Optional] Select the Maintain Estimate Template Currency checkbox to maintain the currency of the associated estimate template for the estimate products and their related records. If deselected, they will be in the target estimate currency. Records independent of estimate products are always in the target estimate's currency.
  5. [Optional] Enter the region, practice, and group for all the role requests related to the selected estimate template. You can leave any of these fields blank to retain the role requests' region, practice, or group.
  6. [Optional] Deselect the Include Skills / Certifications checkbox if you do not want role skill requests to be copied from the selected estimate. The checkbox is selected by default.
  7. Click Add. You will receive a notification when the records have been added to the estimate.
Notes:
  • The builder must reload to display new records that have been added from template. If you have unsaved changes in the builder when you add from template, a window will display to confirm if you want to save or discard your changes before the builder reloads.
  • You can't add records from template when the estimate is currently being processed by another action. Your administrator can troubleshoot any issues with process locking using the relevant process lock record. For more information, see Services CPQ Process Lock Fields.
