Currency Revaluation History Overview
When you generate a currency revaluation journal based on GLA balances, for each company on the template for which the process runs successfully, a currency revaluation history record is created. From the App Launcher, search for and select Currency Revaluation Histories tab to view the history records.
The currency revaluation history enables you:
- To record the exact date and time when the generation process was run.
- To record the criteria and template that was used.
If a transaction for a period is posted after the journal is created, it is easy to identify it from the history record date and time. The History Generation Date field displays the process initiation date and time.
In each created record:
- The company in the Accounting Company field is derived from the template used by the currency revaluation criteria. A separate currency revaluation history record is created for each company selected in the template for which the currency revaluation process runs successfully.
- The exchange rates in the Dual Currency Exchange Rate and Reporting Currency Exchange Rate fields are derived from the exchange rates in the criteria grid that is retrieved when you click Retrieve Data.
- The value in the Journal Period and Reversing Journal Period fields for each company is derived from the value that you enter in the Journal Period and Reversing Journal Period fields respectively when generating journals on the Currency Revaluation Criteria record page.
You can also check the applied exchange rates directly from the record page, avoiding the need to calculate them from the journal's Home and Dual currency. To check the applied exchange rate, click View Exchange Rates History on the currency revaluation history record page, this redirects you to the Exchange Rate History list view.
