What is a Text Definition?
A text definition is a predefined, reusable snippet of text that can be included on a sales invoice or sales credit note. Example text definition types include discount payment terms, bank details and contract terms. They comprise a heading and some plain body text. Formatting tags are not supported.
At the time of creating the invoice or credit note, you can accept the default text values, select from a predefined library of alternative text definitions, or enter free-format message. Some text definitions are editable at run time, while others are fixed.
Once the sales document is saved, a record of the actual text printed on it is retained for possible future use.
Text Positions
There are five possible text positions (1 to 5) on each sales document. For example:
- Bank Details
- unused
- Payment Terms
- unused
- Contact Details
In this example, the Bank Details would be printed first, immediately followed by the Payment Terms, and finally the Contact Details.
You can set one text definition as "Default" for each position for each sales document type.
The Text Definitions tab displays a home page that lets you quickly create and locate your text definitions. You can also sort and filter your text definitions using standard and custom list views Give you instant access to specific sets of data.
