Edit Restrictions when External Tax Status is Finalized

When you commit a billing document's tax using Avalara AvaTax, the document's External Tax Status changes to "Finalized" and you cannot make any edits that might affect the document's tax value. This means you cannot add or remove billing document line items, nor edit the fields listed below, regardless of the document's status. Also billing document line items cannot be moved from one billing document to another by the consolidation process. These restrictions apply to ensure that a billing document's tax value in Avalara AvaTax matches its tax value in Billing Central.

Billing Document fields that cannot be edited when a billing document's External Tax Status is "Finalized":

  • Company
  • Currency
  • Document Date
  • Document Type
  • all Billing Address fields
  • all Shipping Address fields

Billing Document Line Item fields that cannot be edited when a billing document's External Tax Status is "Finalized":

  • Company Site
  • Net Value Override
  • Original Billing Document
  • Product or Service
  • Quantity
  • Tax Code 1-3, Tax Rate 1-3, Tax Value 1-3
  • Unit Of Measure
  • Unit Price
  • all Shipping Address fields
