Generating Sequence Numbers

Depending on your permissions, there are two ways to generate sequence numbers.

Admin Users

As an admin user, you can schedule or run the Generate Sequences job to generate sequence numbers for all enabled sequence formats.

Standard Users

As a standard user, you can generate sequence numbers for any object you have permission to edit.

You can specify whether you want to generate sequence numbers in one of the following ways:

• All objects you have permission to edit, or specific objects
• All records for the selected objects or only records you have created

When you run sequencing, Foundations applies enabled sequence formats to the relevant objects to generate sequence numbers.

Warning:

Do not make changes to the Sequence, Sequence Field, or Sequence Part custom metadata types or their records while the Generate Sequences job is running. Making changes to these items while the job is running can result in sequence numbers being applied incorrectly.
