PSA Staffing Risk Predictor (beta) Dashboard

The PSA Staffing Risk Predictor (beta) dashboard enables you to view the difference in days between the scheduled work start date of a resource request and the date on which it's predicted that the resource request will be staffed. It also gives insight into any loss of revenue that can be incurred if the resource request delays the start of the associated assignment. Predictions are based on the Einstein Discovery model Days to Staff Predictor (beta).

The dashboard is designed to make project managers aware of any resource requests that are unlikely to be staffed before the date that work is scheduled to start. This prompts action to either prioritize the staffing of these resource requests or change the project plan to accommodate more realistic predicted lead times for staffing.

Note:

This dashboard is a beta feature and is currently in development.

Datasets

Data displayed in the dashboard is derived from the Days to Staff dataset, which includes data from the Project Reporting dataset in PS Cloud Core Analytics. For more information on these datasets, see Project Reporting Dataset Output Fields.

PSA Staffing Risk Predictor (beta) Dashboard Guide

The PSA Staffing Risk Predictor (beta) dashboard is designed to be embedded on a project record. We recommend that you filter the dashboard to only display resource requests for the current project because this ensures that the project currency is correct for all records. For more information, see Configuring the Dashboard Component to Display the PSA Staffing Risk Predictor (beta) Dashboard.

The dashboard has the following elements.

PSA Staffing Risk Predictor (beta) Dashboard Elements
Element Number Name Description Additional Information
1.

Predicted Average Staffing Delay KPI

The average difference in days between the work start date and predicted staffing date. The resource requests included in this calculation are filtered by the status and date range specified in the Resource Request Status and Date Range pickers.

Calculated as total Predicted Staffing Days Variance for all filtered resource requests with predictions / total number of filtered resource requests with predictions.
2.

Resource Requests Awaiting Prediction KPI

The number of resource requests that are pending processing by the Days to Staff (beta) model because they were created since analytics was last run. The resource requests included in this value are filtered by the status specified in the Resource Request Status picker.

To include resource requests that are awaiting predictions in this metric on embedded versions of the dashboard, you must run analytics after projects are created to add them to the dataset.

Resource requests awaiting prediction cannot be filtered by date range.
3. Predicted Revenue at Risk KPI

The total amount of revenue lost if all resource requests are staffed on the predicted staffing date. The resource requests included in this calculation are filtered by the status and date range specified in the Resource Request Status and Date Range pickers.

Calculated as total Predicted Revenue at Risk (10).
4. Resource Request Status Picker

Filters the dashboard to display only the resource requests that have the status selected in the picker.

The Predicted Average Staffing Delay KPI (1), Resource Requests Awaiting Prediction KPI (2), and Predicted Revenue at Risk KPI (3) are also filtered by the selected status.

Default values:

  • Assigned
  • Draft
  • Hold
  • Ready to Staff
5. Date Range Picker

Filters the dashboard to display only the resource requests with a Resource Request Start Date that falls within the specified date range. The Predicted Average Staffing Delay KPI (1) and Predicted Revenue at Risk KPI (3) are also filtered by the specified date range.

Date Range options are as follows:

  • Relative: filter by year, quarter, month, week, or day and select the start and end value based on your filter selection. For example, start 1 week ago and end 52 weeks ahead.
  • Absolute All Time: filter by current fiscal year, previous fiscal year, next fiscal year, or current fiscal year to date.
  • Absolute Custom: filter based on periods with specific start dates, end dates, or start and end dates.
Resource requests awaiting prediction cannot be filtered by date range.
6.

Resource Request ID

The ID of the resource request.

To view the resource request record, click the ID link, then click Open Record.

Maps to Name in the Days to Staff dataset.

7. Resource Request Role The requested role of the resource request. Maps to RR Role in the Days to Staff dataset.
8.

Work Start Date

The scheduled work start date of the resource request.

Maps to RR Start Date in the Days to Staff dataset.

9.

Predicted Staffing Date

The date on which it's predicted that the resource request will be staffed. This value is determined by the Days to Staff Predictor (beta) model.

Maps to Predicted RR Staffing Date in the Days to Staff dataset.

10.

Predicted Delay

The variance in days between the work start date and the predicted staffing date. Positive values, where it is predicted that the resource request will be staffed after the work start date, are shown in red. Negative values, where it is predicted that the resource request will be staffed before the work start date, are shown in green.

Calculated as the difference between RR Start Date and Predicted RR Staffing Date.
11. Predicted Revenue at Risk

The amount of revenue lost if the resource request is staffed on the predicted staffing date. If the predicted staffing date is before the work start date, this value is zero.

If the predicted staffing date is after the work start date, calculated as RR Suggested Bill Rate (Project Currency) * RR Hours Per Day) * (abs(Predicted Staffing Days Variance + Predicted Staffing Days Variance) / 2).
