Mapping PSA Direct for Jira Fields

This custom metadata type is used for defining the mappings between objects and fields in PSA and Jira Issue in the PSA Direct for Jira. If needed, you can change the default mappings or add new ones. For more information, see Customizing PSA Direct for Jira Field Mappings.

Notes:
  • To use the PSA Direct for Jira Mappings Lightning page and Foundations Mapping component, you must have the PSA Direct for Jira - Configure Jira and FDN Core - Mapping permission sets assigned. Contact your administrator if you require these permission sets. For more information, see Permission Sets and Other Technical Documentation.
  • Before you start mapping a PSA field to a Jira Issue field, you must also assign permissions to the PSA objects and fields. Even if you do not assign object and field permissions for the PSA Project and Project Task, you can still view the existing mappings while adding or editing the mappings, but you cannot select any objects and fields.
  • You can only perform these steps in Lightning if the latest packages of Foundations, PSA, and Certinia PSA Direct for Jira extension packages are installed.

The metadata type records are used when you enable the PSA Direct for Jira and Upgrade PSA Direct for Jira features in the Feature Console, to provide mappings from PSA to Jira.

Note:

The fields available are metadata driven. If a user has a custom field in Jira they can add it by creating a metadata record.

Label Name of the mapping.
PSA to Jira Issue Field Name Unique API name of the PSA to Jira Issue Field Name.

Description
Jira Field ID ID of the field on the specified Jira object for which the mapping is created in the PSA Direct for Jira. For example, customfield_10800.
Jira Field Name Name of the field on the specified Jira object for which the mapping is created in the PSA Direct for Jira. This field might be empty if a PSA field is mapped to an intermediary field in the PSA Direct for Jira that does not exist on the Jira object. For example, the Sync with Jira field.
Owning Type The type of the field. For example, fields.
Jira Datatype The Jira Datatype for this field. For example, String.

Is Available for Mapping The checkbox that determines whether the field is available for use in mappings.
Mapping Can Be Overridden The checkbox that determines whether a managed mapping that targets the field can be overridden.

Source Object The source object for the selected Project Task.
Target Object The target object for the selected Jira Issue Fields.

Add Mapping Create a new mapping for the PSA Direct for Jira.

The following fields are available when you click Add Mapping. Depending on your selections, different combinations of fields are visible.

Key: F – Field; CR – Child relationship; S – Static source; L – Lookup; CM – Child mapping; AL – Advanced lookup.

Source Type   The type of data being sent, such as a value from a field, a static value, or a child relationship.
Source Field Path F The field on the source object or a related object that contains the source data.
Source Description S The description of the fixed data to send in the mapping.
Source Data S The exact value to send in the mapping.

Target Type   The type of target, such as a field, child record, or a lookup that contains a non-unique name.
Target Field   The field in which to store the data from the source.

Data Transformation Table   The data transformation table to apply to the target field.
