Creating Recognition Years and Periods
We recommend that you read and understand About Recognition Years and Periods before creating your first year.
To create a new year in your recognition calendar:
- Click the Recognition Years tab.
- Click New.
- Enter a unique name for the year, such as 2013.
- Enter the date of the first day in the year.
- Select a Period Calculation Basis. Refer to Recognition Year and Period Fields for more information about the different options.
- If the selected period calculation basis is 445 or one of its variants, you must enter the length of the year in weeks. In this case, leave the number of months blank.
- If the selected period calculation basis is "Month" or "Month End", you must enter the number of months in the year. In this case, leave the number of weeks blank.
- Click Save. The year end date is calculated automatically.
To generate periods for the new year:
- If necessary, navigate to the detail page for the new year.
- Check that all year details are correct. You will not be able to edit these details once periods are created.
- Click Calculate Periods. A message is displayed.
- If you want to continue, click Create Periods. The period records are generated automatically based on the specified values. Period details are fixed. If you want to change them, you have to delete the whole year and start again.
