Adding Tasks to an Estimate

You can add tasks to an estimate to plan for the project tasks that might be needed.

Tip:

You can use keyboard shortcuts in the Estimate Builder. For more information, see Estimate Builder Keyboard Shortcuts.

To add a task to an estimate, in the Builder tab:

  1. Click . A task is added to the builder and its Name cell is highlighted and editable. If you have selected a record in the builder, a task is added to the first appropriate place within the hierarchy. For example, if you have selected a line set, the task will be added to the bottom of that line set.
  2. Enter a name for the new task.
  3. [Optional] Select or tab to the Start Date cell and enter a date. Records inherit the dates of their immediate parent records. For example, a task inherits the dates of the estimate, or its line set if the task is associated with one.
  4. [Optional] Select or tab to the End Date cell and enter a date.
  5. Click Save.

Copying, Cutting, and Pasting Tasks

You can copy, cut, and paste tasks by right-clicking the task, then clicking Copy Rows, Cut Rows, or Paste Rows.

Deleting Tasks

You can delete a task by doing one of the following:

  • Select the tasks, then click .
  • Right-click the task then click Delete Rows.

Indenting and Outdenting Tasks

You can indent and outdent tasks by right-clicking the task, then clicking Indent Rows or Outdent Rows.

Adding Sub-Tasks to an Estimate

To add a sub-task to an estimate in the Estimate Builder:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Select a task and click . A sub-task is added to the selected task and its Name cell is highlighted and editable.
      If you have selected a task in the builder, a task is added to the first appropriate place within the hierarchy. For example, if you have selected a task with a role request, the task will be added as a sibling to the selected task.
    • Select a sibling task, right-click, then Indent Rows.
  1. Enter a name for the new task.
  2. [Optional] Select or tab to the Start Date cell and enter a date. Sub-tasks inherit the dates of their immediate parent tasks.
  3. [Optional] Select or tab to the End Date cell and enter a date. Sub-tasks inherit the dates of their immediate parent tasks.
  4. Click Save.
