Scheduling Period Close Templates
You can schedule the closing of periods if you do not want to close the periods manually. Scheduling prevents you from failing to close periods on time and also enables you to close the periods outside your working hours. You can schedule a period close template from the Period Close Schedule page in the App Launcher or from the Period Close Template page.
To set a schedule on a period close template:
- Click Schedule on the Period Close Template page. The Schedule Template window displays.
- In the Days field, enter the number of days as a positive integer if the period closing day is after the period end date or a negative integer if the period closing day is before the period end date. The period ending day is day zero.
- Enter the time in your time zone in the Start Time field to schedule when to start the process.
- [Optional] Select the (Exclude) Weekends checkbox to exclude weekends when counting the number of days for the schedule. For more information, see the examples below.
- [Optional] Select the (Exclude) Public Holidays checkbox to exclude the public holidays when counting the number of days for the schedule. For more information, see the examples below.
- [Optional] Select the Activate checkbox to activate the scheduled process.
- Click Schedule. This schedules the period close process.
- When the scheduled job runs and completes, the owner of the period close template gets a confirmation email.
Example for Excluding Weekends or Public Holidays
By default, day zero is the day just before the non-working day (Weekend or Public Holiday). To set day zero to be on the day just after the non-working day (Weekend or Public Holiday), use the Set Day Zero after Non-Working Days custom setting field in the Period Close Schedule Settings custom setting.
When the (Exclude) Weekends checkbox is selected
The number of days in the Days field is 7.
By default, day zero (Period End Date) is the Friday just before the weekend.
Day 1 is Monday, day 2 is Tuesday, and day 7 is Tuesday in the next week. This is the day when the period close process is scheduled to take place.
The number of days in the Days field is 7.
Day zero (Period End Date) is the Monday just after the weekend.
Day 1 is Tuesday, day 2 is Wednesday, and day 7 is Wednesday of the next week. This is the day when the period close process is scheduled to take place.
The same logic as described in the example above is used when you want to exclude public holidays.
When both the (Exclude) Weekends and the (Exclude) Public Holidays checkboxes are selected
The number of days in the Days field is 7.
The public holiday falls on a Friday.
By default, day zero (Period End Date) is the Thursday just before the public holiday (Friday).
Day 1 is Monday in the next week, day 2 is Tuesday, and day 7 is Tuesday in the following week. This is the day when the period close process is scheduled to take place.

You must always create a schedule from the Period Close Template page and not from the Period Close Schedule page. Use the Period Close Schedule page only to view the scheduled period close templates.
