Creating an Account Extension

To create an account extension:

  1. Navigate to the Account Extension tab.
  2. Click New.
  3. Select the account that this account extension is related to.
  4. [Optional] Enter the reason, if any, that the account has a sales tax exemption.
  5. [Optional] Complete the electronic invoicing fields if your org is configured for electronic invoicing and you want to send electronic invoices to this account.
  6. [Optional] If the legal name that you want to appear on the CSV files generated in the 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC preparation processes differs from your account name, enter the legal name of the related account in the Account Legal Name field.
  7. Click Save.
Tip:

If your organization uses Avalara AvaTax to calculate SUTClosed Sales and Use Tax on billing documents, the tax exemption reason is sent to Avalara automatically when you calculate tax.
