Syncing Regions to Dimension Records

If the Sync Regions to Dimension Records flow is enabled, PSA – Accounting Connector automatically creates and updates dimension records when you create or update a region. Depending on how your org is set up, a region might be synced to a dimension 1-4 record. By default, regions are synced to dimension 1 records.

For more information about these objects, see the following:

How is the Accounting Reporting Code Field Populated for a Region?

In Accounting, each dimension record has a reporting code that must be unique. This is used alongside the dimension name to uniquely identify the dimension and is often included in reports.

PSA – Accounting Connector adds the Accounting Reporting Code field to the Region object. This field is mapped to the Reporting Code field on a dimension.

With the flow enabled, when you create or update a region, if the Accounting Reporting Code field is empty, PSA – Accounting Connector automatically populates it with the name of the region. Because the reporting code has a limit of 24 characters, if the value is longer, it is automatically truncated. In addition, the value must be unique.

How Can I Create Dimensions from Regions?

If the Sync Regions to Dimension Records flow is enabled, dimension records are automatically created when you create a region. This means that, unlike most PSA – Accounting Connector flows, there isn't a record page button, a list view button, or a scheduled process. The flow runs in real time.

In addition, if you change the value of any of the mapped fields, the matching dimension record is automatically updated. For more information about the mappings, see What Information is Passed from a Region to a Dimension?.

Can I Map Existing Dimension and Region Records?

If you manually created a matching dimension for each region in your org, you can manually correlate them. You can do this by populating the dimension lookup field on each region record.

What Information is Passed from a Region to a Dimension?

The following table lists how fields on the Region object map to the relevant fields on the Dimension 1 object.

Note:

Your administrator might have mapped the Region object to another dimension object, changed the default mappings, or added custom mappings.
