Configuring Utilization Calculations in the Dashboard

The following utilization calculations are available for use in the dashboard, and can be renamed according to your preferred reporting definitions. By default, excluded hours are subtracted from calendar hours. You can also choose not to subtract excluded hours from calendar hours, if required.

Note:

Any changes made to the global filters displayed on the configuration page are saved after you have picked your initial values and saved them.

Renaming the Utilization Calculations

To rename these calculations, you must perform the following steps:

  1. Open the PSA Utilization Analytics dashboard.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Double-click the utilization calculation drop-down selector you want to change in your Utilization or Capacity chart. For example, Hours Billable.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. In the New Custom Query modal, you can edit the following values for your selected utilization calculation. We recommend that this is the only setting you edit.
    1. Display. This controls the utilization calculation label displayed in the drop-down selector.
  6. Click Done.
  7. Click Preview.
  8. Click Save.

Defining the Utilization Targets

You can define your overall percentage targets for Billable Utilization and Total Productive Utilization using the drop-down selectors listed under Utilization Targets. Available percentages are 50% - 100%.

If you define your utilization targets, the indicators in the dashboard display red if you fail to meet them, and green if you meet them. If you do not define your utilization targets, the indicators in the dashboard are displayed in grey.

To define your utilization targets, you must perform the following steps:

  1. Open the PSA Utilization Analytics dashboard.
  2. Click .
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Click More Actions | Pick Initial Values.
  5. From the Billable Utilization drop-down selector, select your required target percentage range. Available options are 50% - 100%.
  6. From the Total Productive Utilization drop-down selector, select your required target percentage range. Available options are 50% - 100%.
  7. Click Done.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Enter the following values:
    1. A name for your dashboard.
    2. [Optional] A description.
    3. [Optional] A version history.
    4. The app you want to save your dashboard to.
  10. Click Save.
