Reviewing and Updating Existing Forecasts

Warning:

The Forecast Revenue feature will be removed from Spring 2025. We recommend you migrate to recognition schedules and use the Revenue Scheduled By Period report (RM Report Templates folder) or build your own reports on recognition schedule data to gain insight into a company's future revenue position. For information about migrating to recognition schedules, see Migrating from Actuals to Recognition Schedules.

Alternatively if Revenue Management is integrated with PSA, you can use PSA's Revenue Forecasting feature.

Once you have submitted forecasts you can still review them and:

  • If the existing revenue forecast transactions are not locked, you can update them.
  • If the existing revenue forecast transactions are locked, you can create new versions of them.

To review and update existing forecasts:

  1. Click the Forecast Revenue tab.
  2. [Optional] Load a saved view.
  3. Click the tab for your chosen source object, such as project.
  4. Apply filters to retrieve the source records you are interested in.
  5. Next:
    • If your filter criteria will retrieve multiple source records, click Load Latest and choose which category of forecast data you want to review (Best, Expected, Worst). The grid refreshes to display the latest forecast data saved for those source records, in that category.
    • If your filter criteria will retrieve a single source record you can click Load Latest as above or you can click Load Specific to display the Select Forecast popup where you then choose the revenue forecast transaction that you want to load for that particular source record.
  6. Once the data is loaded you can amend the forecast values in the revenue forecast schedule on the right.
  7. Once you have made your updates, click Submit to save them. If any of the forecasts you have edited are held on locked transactions, you can only choose Create New Versions. If the forecasts you have edited are held on transactions that are not locked, you can choose to Update the existing transactions or to Create New Versions.
  8. You must enter a description if you are creating new versions of the transactions. If you are updating transactions you can enter a description to override the current description, or leave the field blank to keep the current description.
  9. Choose the appropriate category, then click Update to update existing transactions or click Create New Version to create new versions of the forecast transactions.
Note:

You cannot delete a locked revenue forecast transaction unless its primary source record has been deleted.
