New Features and Enhancements in Revenue Management Summer 2024

The following new features have been introduced in the Summer 2024 release of Revenue Management.

If you are upgrading from a previous version, see Upgrading to Revenue Management Summer 2024. This provides a summary of the items that have been added for each feature and details of any required upgrade steps.

Flexible Period End for % Complete Recognition Schedules

You can now specify an offset for period end cutoff so that any % Complete updates that happen after the period end date are still included in the recognition schedule lines generated for that period. For example, set this offset to 3 if timecards contribute to a milestone's % Complete but your business process allows them to be approved up to three days after period end.

For more information, see Allowing Flexibility of Period End for % Complete Recognition Schedules.

Deferred Revenue True-Up Groups Recognition Transactions by Company

The True-Up process now uses the Company field mapping to group recognition transactions by company (in addition to grouping them by currency and recognition stream). Previously it used the Grouped By field mapping. This has been changed for consistency with how transactions are grouped when created by the Recognition Schedules process.

If you are upgrading to Summer 2024, make sure the Company field mapping on the recognition settings for your source objects is populated with the same field that was previously specified in the Grouped By field mapping.

Performance Improvements When Generating Revenue Contracts for Multiple Engagements

When generating revenue contracts for multiple engagements, performance has been significantly improved by always running the process asynchronously and by starting bulk process jobs up front to process multiple engagements simultaneously.

When the process starts, you can click View process run to view the process log. From the process run record you can monitor the child processes that create, populate, and allocate the revenue contracts. If necessary you can control the scope size of these processes via the following fields in the Revenue Management Batch Settings: Allocate Revenue Contract Batch Size, Create Revenue Contract Batch Size, Populate Revenue Contract Batch Size. We recommend you contact Certinia for advice before adjusting these fields.

By default you are notified by email and by a Salesforce notification when the process completes. These notifications are controlled by the Manage RC - Send Email Notification field in the Revenue Management Batch Settings custom setting.

Notice of Deprecated Features and Functionality

We are deprecating the following features and functionality.

Opportunity Product Mirror

The Opportunity Product Mirror object will be removed from Winter 25. This is because since Spring 2021 it has been possible to use Salesforce's Opportunity Product directly as a source object. If your org has customizations using the Opportunity Product Mirror object you must modify them to remove this dependency. Contact Certinia if you require assistance with this.

Forecast Revenue

The Forecast Revenue feature will be removed from Spring 2025. We recommend you migrate to recognition schedules and use the Revenue Scheduled By Period report (RM Report Templates folder) or build your own reports on recognition schedule data to gain insight into a company's future revenue position. Alternatively if Revenue Management is integrated with PSA, you can use PSA's Revenue Forecasting feature.

Fixes

Fixes are listed on the Known Issues page of the Certinia Community. You can access this page from the Community Support Hub. For a brief description of the issues that have been fixed in this version of Revenue Management, see the relevant section of the Known Issues page.
