Drilling to Source Documents

The drill functionality in Report Builder enables you to obtain a deeper view of your report data by opening documents in their source app.

Enabling Drilling to Source Documents in Analytics Studio

Fields in a dataset are denoted as drillable in Analytics Studio by Downward chevron.. Some fields are predefined as drillable when accessed via Analytics Studio, such as the Transaction Name field in the Financial Transactions dataset.

To make a non-drillable field drillable, you must perform the following steps:

  1. From Analytics Studio, navigate to the app that contains your required dataset.
  2. Click the Datasets tab.
  3. Click Downward chevron. | Edit next to the dataset you want to edit.
  4. Click Lightning cog icon. .
  5. Search for the field you want to make drillable.
  6. Enter the ID field for the field you want to enable drilling for. For example, to make Account Name drillable in the Financial Transactions dataset, enter Account ID.
  7. Select the checkbox Open Salesforce record.
  8. Click Save.
