Generating Year End Accounting Playbooks
The Year End Playbooks functionality helps you to verify in one place that all prerequisites are met before the Year End process begins.
Before You Start
To start using Year End Accounting Playbooks take the following actions:
- Ensure the Accounting package version is Summer 2024 or later.
- Perform the feature steps in the Accounting Playbook Enhancements feature in the Feature Console. For more information, see Enabling the Accounting Playbook Enhancements Feature.
Getting Started
To ensure all prerequisite tasks are completed before launching the Year End process, we recommend using the Default Year End Playbook Template to create your Year End Accounting playbook. The Default Year End Playbook Template contains the Year End tasks to complete before launching the Year End process. Each task includes instructional guidance and can be modified or expanded with additional tasks to meet specific needs. You may also create playbooks manually.
To create a Default Year End Playbook template:
- From the App Launcher, navigate to Manage Accounting Playbooks.
- In the Action panel, click Create or Restore a Default Year End Playbook Template.
- Select the Default Year End Accounting Playbook Template and click Launch.
Once the Default Year End Playbook template has been created, perform the following steps to generate a Year End Playbook:
- From the App Launcher, navigate to Manage Accounting Playbooks.
- Click Generate Year End Playbooks in the Action tab. The Generate Year End Playbooks window displays.
- Select an Accounting Year End Playbook template and click Next.
- The available companies and years are displayed. Select one or more companies to create the playbooks. You can filter the list by searching for specific years, company, or year end date.
- Click Generate. You will receive an email when the process is complete.
Once generated, you can access the Year End Playbook launched by clicking Accounting Playbooks from the Navigation tab.

Validating Tasks
If you have created a playbook from the Default Year End Playbook template, you can run a validation process clicking Validate that checks whether the requirements for each task have been met.
The validation process does not affect the task's status and can only be run on tasks with the status "Not Started".
Validations are not supported for:
- Customized Accounting playbooks
- Year End playbooks generated from non-default templates
- Customized tasks added to playbooks generated from the default template
You can run the validation multiple times, if required.
