Using the CFO Overview Dashboard

Note:

To navigate between the different dashboards, either click the relevant tab in the top header or click Select Asset Menu at the end of the dashboard title.

The CFO Overview dashboard displays a summary of your key performance indicators (KPIs) including the percentage increase or decrease in data when compared with your budget, data from the previous year, or data from Extended Planning and Analysis.

You can navigate to the CFO Profitability Detail dashboard to view further details for each of your KPIs by clicking View Details for any of the KPIs.

Managing Filters

Your filter selections determine the data displayed for each of your KPIs within your dashboards. To set or change your filters for the CFO Overview, CFO Profitability Detail and CFO Balance Sheet Detail dashboards, use the following drop-down options:

  • Company: select the companies you want to see data for or select All if you want to see data for all companies in your org.
  • Compare to: specify whether you want to compare the data to your budget, data from the previous year, or data from Extended Planning and Analysis. By default, this is the balance type selected as equivalent to Budget for your Reporting Balance type field. From Spring 2020, other balance types, such as forecasts or other comparison data, are also available for selection if they contain data. See the Creating an App from the Financial Analytics Template and Setting up CFO Dashboards for more information. Only select Budget if you have loaded a budget into your org and named it "Budget". Otherwise, no data will be available for comparison.
  • Currency: select the currency you want to see data for. You can select Home or Dual currency.
  • Frequency: specify whether you want to see Monthly, Quarterly, Monthly YTD, or Quarterly YTD data.
  • Period: select the period of the year you want to see data for. If your Frequency is Quarterly or Quarterly YTD, your selection will be Q1, Q2, Q3, or Q4.
  • Special Periods: select any special periods you want to add to the adjacent Period drop-down. Period 100 is selected by default.
Income Statement - shows all data in that 3 month period.
For more information, see Special Periods - CFO Dashboards.
  • Year: select the year you want to see data for.
Note:

For Quarters, Income Statement and Balance Sheet KPIs are calculated differently.

Data Included in Each Quarter for the Income Statement and Balance Sheet KPIs

Quarter

Income Statement (only shows data in that 3 month period)

Balance Sheet (shows all data up to the end of the selected period)

Q1 Data in periods 1 - 3 All data up to end of period 3
Q2 Data in periods 4 - 6 All data up to end of period 6
Q3 Data in periods 7 - 9 All data up to end of period 9
Q4 Data in periods 10 - 12 All data up to end of period 12

Year, Period, and Company filter selections that you make in the CFO Overview dashboard also apply to the CFO Profitability Detail dashboard if you access it by clicking View Details. All other filter selections must be made in both dashboards. Filter selections made in the CFO Profitability Detail dashboard do not apply to the CFO Overview dashboard.

Warning:

If your calendar is configured to contain more or less than 12 periods in a year, your dashboard data will be incorrect. With the exception of special periods, Analytics dashboards only support years with 12 periods. Also, you cannot compare data for companies with differing financial years.
