Bill of Material Fields

If an item is a Manufactured Kit An item that consists of several other items which must undergo a process before they are turned into the product sold to the customer. For instance, if a table is sold as an assembled item it may consist of a table top and four legs which must be assembled before shipping to the customer. or Virtual Kit A bundle of items sold to a customer. For instance, a pencil case might be sold as a bundle including the pencil case, several pencils, a sharpener and an eraser., it may contain a bill of materials that make up the item. The parent bill of materials for an item may contain several child bills of material.

Here is a description of the fields that make up a Bill of Materials.

Bill of Material Fields

Field		Description
Bill of Material Name		Unique name of the BOM.
Condition Code		Condition code of the item to be used.
Expected Percent Yield		Estimate of the quantity to result from a production order. You can enter the actual value on completion of a production order. This field only applies to parent bill of material records for manufactured kits.
Item		The item to which the bill of materials relates
Item Description		Description of the item
Level		The level of the BOM Bill of Material. The items that make up a product. For example, if the product is a table, this might include the table top, four legs and a bag of screws.. A level 1 BOM is a Parent BOM. A level 2 BOM is a child BOM. Only two levels of BOM are allowed. For instance a BOM can be made up from several child BOMs, however each child BOM cannot be made up from another BOM.
Parent BOM		Parent BOM to which this BOM relates. This field is blank when the BOM is the parent.
Quantity Per Assembly		Number of the item that goes into the parent item or bill of materials.
Unit of Measure	R	Stocking UOM Stocking UOM is the unit of measure in which the item is stocked and sold to the customer. For instance, your supplier may sell you a box containing a quantity of 2000 of the item, but your company may sell them as individual units (each). Stocking UOM and Supplier UOM are used to determine if a conversion is required upon receiving an item into stock. The conversion will not be applied unless there are two different units of measure entered for the Supplier UOM and Stocking UOM fields on the item master. The appropriate conversion calculation is derived from the Conversion Factor and Conversion Value fields. of the item.

Bills of Material

The Bills of Material related list shows the bill of materials that make up this bill of materials. For instance, if a parent bill of materials is for a toothbrush, this list might show the bills of material toothbrush body, battery and toothbrush head.
