Creating Multiple Plans from a Plan Template

You can create multiple plans at once without having to define the core parameters individually for each individual plan. This saves time, ensures consistency, and reduces the risk of manual errors.

To create multiple plans:

  1. Go to the Planning Task Launcher.
  2. Click Create Multiple Plans.
  3. Search for and select the template that you want to use to create the plans.
  4. Enter a plan name.

    Note:

The Plan Name Preview field is automatically populated with the plan name, followed by the dimension you selected in the Multiple Plan Criteria field. For example, if you enter FY26 as the plan name, and you select Time Period Year as your criteria, the resulting plan name preview is FY26 [Project Manager].

  5. Search for and select your multiple plan criteria. The criteria you select here determines the dimension used to create multiple plans based on its unique values. For example, if you select Project Manager, multiple plans will be created, segmented by each individual project manager. Therefore separate plans will be generated based on the template you have selected and any filters you apply later.
  6. [Optional] Enter a description.
  7. Click Next.
  8. [Optional] Define the criteria filters for your multiple plan creation. Criteria filters limit the number of plans that will be created by filtering the values selected previously in the Multiple Plan Criteria field.

    1. Search for and select the dimension whose values you want to filter.
    2. Select the operator used when applying the filter. For more information about the available options, see Operators.
    3. Depending on the operator that you selected, do one of the following:

      • If you selected "Equals" or "Does Not Equal", search for and select the values.
      • If you selected "Contains", "Does Not Contain", or "Starts With", enter the value that you want to use.
      • If you selected "Is Null" or "Is Not Null", proceed to the next step.
    4. To add more filters, click Add Filter and then repeat steps a-c.
  9. Click Next.
  10. [Optional] Define the template filters for your multiple plan creation. These filters are predefined by the template selected previously for your multiple plan creation.

    Note:

Whether these filters are editable depends on whether the Fixed Value checkbox is selected upon configuring plan template filters.

  11. Click Next.
  12. Select the scenario you want to use as the parent scenario for the new plans.

    Note:

If the parent scenario no longer exists or is invalid when the multiple plan process runs, the relationships are not created.

  13. Click Next.
  14. Review the number of plans that will be generated.
  15. [Optional] If you want to schedule the Multiple Plan Creation process:
    1. Select the Schedule checkbox.
    2. Select a schedule frequency: Hourly, Daily, Weekly, Monthly.
    3. Select a Schedule Start Time.
    4. If you want the scheduling to be recurring, select the days you want it to recur on.
    5. Note:

The system runs scheduled jobs on an hourly basis. You can specify a schedule start time, but your scheduled process will be executed hourly at approximately one minute past the top of the hour. For example, a process scheduled for 12:30 PM will be initiated at around 12:01 PM. Multiple scheduled processes due within the same hour are grouped and chained, running sequentially. Therefore, while initiated together, their completion times will vary.

  16. Click Save.
Notes:
  • If there are errors, the process will keep running and simply log all errors. To see the failed processes, go to the Asynchronous Process Jobs tab.
  • If a plan with the same name already exists in WorkGrid, the new plan will not be created. This is because all plan names within WorkGrid must be unique. Consequently, the new plan will not appear as a task in the list view of the asynchronous process job.
