Setting up the Manage Skills and Certifications Lightning Component

The Manage Skills and Certifications Lightning component is available in the following locations by default:

  • Services Delivery workspace
  • Resource Details panel of the Resourcing Lightning component, accessed by clicking View Experience in the Requested Skills section.

You can also add the component to the following:

  • Lightning app pages
  • Lightning home pages
  • Lightning record pages
  • Experience Cloud sites
  • Lightning utility bars

Permissions

You must grant users the permissions detailed in this section to enable them to use the Manage Skills and Certifications Lightning component.

Permission Controls

The functionality in the Manage Skills and Certifications Lightning component enables users to view and manage their own skills, certifications, and experience. If a user needs to view or manage skills, certifications, and experience for someone else, you must set up a permission control for the user with the following selected, as required:

  • Skills And Certifications View
  • Skills And Certifications Entry

Object Permissions

You must grant users the following object permissions:

  • Read permission on the Resource Skill Request object
  • Read, Create, and Edit permissions on the Skill or Certification Rating object

Field Permissions

You must grant users read and write permissions on all mandatory fields. Users cannot edit non-mandatory fields that they do not have read or write permissions for. For more information on the fields, see Skill or Certification Rating Fields and Experience Fields.

Permission Sets

You must assign users the following permission sets:

  • For resources, assign PSA - Manage Your Skill and Certification Ratings
  • For resource managers, assign PSA - Manage Skill and Certification Ratings

Fields

You can display additional fields in the following filter panels and grid.

Fields in Add Skills and Certifications

In the Selected Skills and Certifications grid, the Skill or Certification, Record Type, and Rating fields are always displayed by default. You can add additional fields to the grid doing one of the following:

  • Adding fields to the default Additional Fields field set on the Skill or Certification Rating object. By default, Expiration Date and Evaluation Date are present in the field set.
  • Creating a field set for the Skill or Certification object and adding the field set API name to the Additional Add Skills Fields field on the Skills Management custom setting. For more information, see Skills Management Settings.
Note:

If you select two or more fields, they are displayed in the grid as they are listed.

Essential Skills Fields

If you want the All Essential Skills and Any Essential Skills fields to display in the Skills and Certifications section in the filters panel, and the Edit Skills and Certifications window that opens using the Edit button, select the Enable Desirable Skills checkbox on the Skills Management custom setting. For more information, see Skills Management Settings.

Filter Fields

If you want to display additional filter fields in the Add from Filters view in the Add Skills and Certifications window, create a field set for the Skill or Certification object and add the field set API name to the Add Skills - Filter Field Set field on the Skills Management custom setting. For more information, see Skills Management Settings.

Experience Feature

If you do not want to display the experience that a resource in using a skill in the Manage Skills and Certifications Lightning component, you can disable the Experience feature by deselecting Enable Experience in the Skills Management custom setting. For more information, see Skills Management Settings.

Disabling the feature has the following effects:

  • Hides the Experience tab
  • Hides the Experience column on the Skills and Certifications tabs
  • Prevents users from adding new experience records

Desirable Skills Feature

The Enable Desirable Skills feature enables you to specify skills as essential or desirable while creating a resource request and managing or updating resource skill requests. You can enable this feature in the Manage Skills window by selecting the Enable Desirable Skills checkbox in the Skills Management custom setting. For more information, see Skills Management Settings.
