Creating Assignments
Note:
We do not support default values for custom fields in the Create Assignment window.
You can create assignments:
From resource requests in Resource Planner.
Without resource requests in Resource and Project Planners .
Note:
Resources that you want to create assignments for must have an associated cost rate. For more information about associating a default cost rate with a resource, see Adding a Resource . You might need to add the Default Cost Rate field to your Contact layout.
Creating Assignments From Resource Requests in Resource Planner
Tip:
Click to create an assignment from a resource request without previewing it.

Only one assignment can be created from a resource request, even if you have previewed the resource request against more than one resource. You can split and swap assignments and held resource requests. For more information, see Splitting Assignments and Held Resource Requests and Swapping Assignments and Held Resource Requests .
If the schedule of the previewed assignment has been changed and Create Assignment is selected, the assignment is created with the schedule changes applied previously in the Preview.

Load resource requests in Resource Planner as described in Loading Resource Requests into the Resource Planner .
Select the resource or any related assignments you want to assign to the resource request.
Click Create Assignment . Adjustments to the previewed schedule are reflected in the Create Assignment dialog and the resource request details.

Tip:
When assigning a resource on the Assign Resource to Project page, you can create the assignment with the resource's Cost Rate Amount and Currency. To do this, clear the Use Resource Default Cost Rate checkbox and select Resource Currency from the drop-down list.
Note:
When creating an assignment:
If you have Edit permissions for both the Use Resource Default Cost Rate and Cost Rate Amount, then the Use Resource Default Cost Rate and Cost Rate Amount fields are visible.
If you have Edit permission for the Use Resource Default Cost Rate field but not for the Cost Rate Amount field, the Cost Rate Amount field is hidden, and the Use Default Cost Rate Clear on Assigning custom setting field in the Assignment Settings custom setting is respected.
If you do not have Edit permissions for the Use Resource Default Cost Rate and Cost Rate Amount fields, both fields are hidden, but the Use Default Cost Rate Clear on Assigning custom setting field in the Assignment Settings custom setting is still respected.
If you have Edit permission only for the Cost Rate Amount field, then you get an error for missing permission of the Use Resource Default Cost Rate field. To add this field in the Create Assignment window, contact your administrator.
