Using Revenue Management Analytics
Revenue Management Analytics enables you to view and analyze your revenue management data using a dashboard and a dataset.
More information about the dataset and dashboard within Revenue Management Analytics is provided below. For general information about datasets and dashboards in Revenue Management Analytics, see the Salesforce Help for Analytics.
Data
The following dataset and dashboard are used.
Datasets
The Revenue Management Analytics app contains the Revenue Recognition dataset. The data from the different sources is joined together and stored in Analytics.
When creating a dataset, Revenue Management Analytics applies one of the following types to each field:
- Date: values such as days, months, years, and times. You can group, filter, and perform calculations on the data in Date type fields.
- Dimension: qualitative values such as regions, product names, and model numbers. You can group and filter the data in Dimension type fields. You cannot perform calculations. Dimension fields are indexed.
- Measure: quantitative values such as total cost or quantity. You can perform calculations on the data in Measure type fields.
Similar to Salesforce reports and other reporting tools, you do not need to know the object model of the dataset. The dataset includes information from various objects, which have been combined into one view.
For more information about the fields that are included in the datasets, see Creating an App from Revenue Management Analytics App Template.
You can add your own fields to the Revenue Recognition dataset in the following ways:
- Modify the recipe.
- Create your own expressions in dashboards.
- Use the Recipes function in Analytics.
For more information, contact your implementation consultant.
Dashboards
The Revenue Management Analytics app contains the following dashboard:
| Dashboard | Description |
|---|---|
| Recognition Summary Dashboard | Enables you to view and analyze recognized revenue and costs by company, period, currency, account, recognition source, source record, and status. |
Managing Filters
Your filter selections determine the data displayed on the dashboard charts. If you have not set any default values, the filters are set to "All" to ensure that all the data is displayed. Each filter you select is interdependent, meaning your choice in one filter will affect the available options in others.
