Manage Resource Grouping Overview

You can configure and preview how resource requests are consolidated using the Manage Resource Grouping action in the Estimate Builder. This enables you to set and review the grouping criteria that will be applied to resource requests once the estimate is added to an opportunity or used to create a project.

You can use the Grouping Criteria filter panel in the Manage Resource Grouping window to configure the grouping of your resource requests. This enables you to make the necessary adjustments as you build the estimate.

All custom and mandatory grouping fields are shown as columns. All required grouping fields are detailed in the tooltip. You can consolidate resource requests by selecting grouping criteria such as Estimate Line Set, Estimate Task, and Skills / Certifications, which appear as columns when selected. All columns, with the exception of the Resource Role and number columns, can be hidden in the grid using the right-click drop-down menu. If you hide a column in the grid, your resources are still grouped according to these criteria. To deselect grouping criteria, use the filter panel.

Note:

Any field configured in Role Request to Resource Request Mappings is automatically included as grouping criteria and can't be deselected. Your administrator can use custom mappings to enforce consistent grouping across your org. For more information, see Services Estimator Administration.

Skills and Tasks in Resource Grouping

All skills and tasks associated with a role request on an estimate will be visible on the corresponding resource request in PSA. If you uncheck the Tasks or Skills / Certifications grouping criteria, these columns are still displayed in the grid. However, if you have checked the "Disable Estimate Role Skills" custom setting, the Skills / Certifications column is not displayed.

Note:

When the Skills / Certifications grouping criteria is deselected in the Grouping Criteria filter panel, all cumulative skills of each consolidated resource are listed in the Skills / Certifications column. This does not indicate that every resource request has every listed skill. An individual resource might have zero, one, or multiple skills.
