Skill and Certification Extraction Overview

Note:

This feature uses generative AI to analyze your documents when the AI Core package is installed in your org. Do not provide sensitive data such as personally identifiable information, protected health information, or confidential or privileged data. From the Manage Skills and Certifications window, you can add skills and certifications for your or another user that are extracted from a list of skills and certifications that you provide. In this list, skills and certifications must be separated by commas, semicolons, or new lines. Potential skills and certifications are identified and matched to existing skills and certifications in your org.

When the AI Core package is installed in your org, using generative AI this feature can also extract skills and certifications from text, such as a CV or a job description, or a PDF or TXT document that you provide. Additionally, the feature can match extracted skill and certification terms even if they do not fully match existing skill and certification names. This includes acronyms or terms that are similar to existing names or that relate to other skills or certifications. For example, if Customer Success is extracted, skills such as Account Management and Client Relations are eligible matches.

Notes:

• To preserve performance, we recommend the text or document includes no more than 75 skills or certifications.
• For optimal performance, we recommend you provide text or documents in English only.
• Documents can be accessed from the Salesforce Files tab. For more information about Files Home, see the Salesforce Help.

Matched skills and certifications display in the order terms are extracted. For example, if Python is extracted before Java, the matches for Python display first. Additionally, when AI is enabled, matched skills and certifications are ranked according to their similarity to the extracted terms. For example, let's assume Resourcing is an extracted skill term, and in your org the Resource Management and Human Resource Management skills exist. When matching skills, Resource Management displays before Human Resource Management because it is more generic and therefore closer to Resourcing.

Skills and certifications are not eligible matches in the following scenarios:

• A skill or certification is already added to the resource's profile.
• A skill or certification is marked as inactive.
• The type of a skill or certification is deactivated.

• A skill or certification is not associated with the resource's role and the following are set to true:

  • Restrict Skills and Skill Sets by Role field in the Skills Management custom setting
  • disregard-skill-zones field in the Skills Entry configuration group
