Project Summaries Overview

Project summaries use generative AI to give you an up-to-date overview of a project's health and context, so that you can understand a project quickly without manually reviewing its related records. You can generate a project summary from anywhere in Salesforce, rather than only from the project record.

A project summary can include the project stage, project manager, account, key dates, and duration, together with the following sections when the relevant information is available:

  • Financials, covering areas such as bookings, billings, project margin, total costs, and the spent-versus-budget position.
  • Risks, covering open risks, their severity, and key themes.
  • Staffing, covering the assigned resources by role, scheduled-hour coverage, and outstanding staffing decisions.
  • Deliverables, covering upcoming milestones, in-progress project tasks, and the resources assigned to them.

Summary Types

Your org can provide more than one type of project summary, each generated from a different template, such as an executive summary, a client summary, or a RAID summary. Each summary type has a key that identifies its template and a label that describes it. You select a summary type by its key when you generate a summary. If you do not specify a key, the default summary is generated.

You can list the summary types that are available in your org so that you know which summaries you can generate.

Note:

The summary types available to you depend on how project summaries are configured in your org.

Output Formats

You can generate a project summary in the output format that best suits how you want to process it. The following formats are available:

  • HTML
  • JSON
  • Markdown
  • Text

If you do not specify a format, the summary is generated in JSON.

Where You Can Generate Project Summaries

Project summaries are provided by two invocable actions, Generate Project Summary and Get Available Project Summaries. Because they are invocable actions, you can use them in the following ways:

  • Request a summary directly from the Certinia Project Assistant Agent, which includes a Project Summarization topic that uses both actions.
  • Add the actions to your own Agentforce agents.
  • Add the actions to Salesforce flows.
