New Features and Enhancements in Services CPQ Winter 2023
The following new features have been introduced in the Winter 2023 release of Services CPQ.
If you are upgrading from a previous version, see Upgrading to Services CPQ Winter 2023. This provides a summary of the items that have been added for each feature and details of any required upgrade steps.
Billing Types
We have enhanced the billing type functionality, so that you can now select whether an estimate product is billed as fixed price or time and materials. You can also select the default billing type and specify a default fixed price margin for estimate products when they're added to an estimate.
Fixed price products and their records use the relevant rate card's cost rate or cost rate override to calculate the net bill amount. Estimate products billed as time and materials use the bill rate or bill rate override and any discounts or margin value to calculate their net bill amounts. For more information, see Estimate Products Overview.
To enable previously created estimates to be accurately reflected in reports that include billing type, your administrator must enable the Services CPQ Winter 2023 feature in Feature Console. For more information, see Upgrading to Services CPQ Winter 2023.
Estimate to Project Field Mappings
We have created the Estimate to Project Mappings page, which enables administrators to map fields on an estimate to fields on a project when a project is created from an estimate. This ensures the required data is transferred from the estimate to the appropriate fields on the project. The page can be accessed by navigating to the Estimate to Project Mappings tab, or using the link on the new Services CPQ Administration page. For more information, see Services CPQ Administration.
Enhancements in the Builder
You can now undo and redo your changes in the Estimate Builder component. You can also hide, reorder, and resize columns. For more information, see Configuring an Estimate.
Your administrator can add columns to the Builder using field sets from the Estimate Task, Estimate Line Set, and Estimate Product Instance objects. For more information, see Estimate Builder Lightning Component Properties.
Suggested Resource Rates
If you are using suggested resources on your estimates, the default cost rate on the selected suggested resource's contact record is now used when calculating the cost rate. If the default cost rate is in a different currency to the estimate or is a daily rate, the generic rate card for the role request is used. For more information, see Estimate Role Request Fields and Managing Custom Settings from Setup.
Creating Estimates using Custom Actions
We have created an invocable method for creating estimates that you can use within Salesforce Flow Builder to trigger the creation of estimates. For more information, see Custom Actions.
Services to Salesforce CPQ Integration
We have enhanced the Push to Quote functionality so that you can now preview the quote lines that will be created. You will also be prompted to create a new quote line if your estimate contains role requests that are not associated with an estimate product. For more information, see Pushing an Estimate to a Quote.
To be able to view the estimate product that a product has been created from in the Salesforce CPQ quote line editor, your administrator can add the Estimate Product field to the Line Editor field set on the Quote Line object. For more information, see Setting up the Services to Salesforce CPQ Integration.
Permissions
