New Features and Enhancements in Revenue Management Spring 2023

The following new features have been introduced in the Spring 2023 release of Revenue Management.

If you are upgrading from a previous version, see Upgrading to Revenue Management Spring 2023. This provides a summary of the items that have been added for each feature and details of any required upgrade steps.

FinancialForce is Now Certinia

We have made the following changes to align with our new Certinia brand:

  • The publisher name has been updated to Certinia
  • Package names no longer reference FinancialForce
  • In most cases, text referring to FinancialForce has been replaced with Certinia

For more information about these updates and related text changes, see the Package Name Updates article in the Certinia Community and the Technical Documentation Pack.

To learn more about our rebrand, visit the Certinia Community for a message from our CEO, Scott Brown.

Note:

Major versions include updates to both package and publisher names. In service packs, only the package name has changed. Some elements, such as theming and logos, have not been updated and other references to FinancialForce might remain visible in your org.

Dependencies on Other Certinia Packages

Revenue Management Spring 2023 requires the following Certinia package to be installed:

  • Certinia Foundations Spring 2023.

You must install this package before installing or upgrading to Revenue Management Spring 2023.

Enhancements to the Revenue Recognition Page

The Revenue Recognition page is where you can recognize revenue and cost against recognition schedules. The following enhancements have been made to the Revenue Recognition page in Spring 2023.

Filtering the Recognition Summary Grid

In previous versions of Revenue Management, data for all recognition schedule lines that could be recognized was loaded into the Recognition Summary grid. You can now filter the grid to display data for recognition schedule lines relating to specific companies, currencies, accounts, products, and recognition streams. This gives you more control over the revenue and cost that is recognized.

By applying filters in the Recognition Summary grid, you can work around the volume constraint that prevents the grid from handling more than 50,000 recognition schedule lines per recognition period.

For more information, see Recognizing Revenue and Cost against Recognition Schedules.

Configuring the Recognition Summary Grid for Revenue Only, Cost Only, or Both

You can now configure the Recognition Summary grid to show revenue only, cost only, or both. By default the grid displays both revenue and cost information. To change this, edit the Default Layout field in the grid's Lightning component properties. For more information, see RM Schedules Grid - Lightning Component Properties.

If you want to create a version of the Revenue Recognition page specifically for cost, see Creating a Cost Recognition Page.

Launching the Automation Process from within Revenue Management

You can now launch the automation process from within Revenue Management. The automation process can run all recognition schedule processes end-to-end, from generating and recognizing schedules through to creating Accounting journals. Previously the automation could only be run from the RevenueScheduleAutomationService global API.

For more information, see End-to-End Automation of Recognition Schedule Processes.

RevenueScheduleAutomationService Supports Filtering by Company and Currency

Configuration parameters for the RevenueScheduleAutomationService global API now include parameters to filter by Company and Currency. When you run the service, the filters are stored in RM background process filter records.

For more information, see Running the Automation via the API.

Support for Asynchronous Processes to Run in Parallel

Support has been added to allow the following asynchronous processes to run in parallel if they are processing different records:

  • Delete Schedules Where Source Unavailable
  • Generate Schedules
  • Recognize Schedules
  • Summarize Transactions
  • Create Journals

Previously you could not run multiple instances of these asynchronous processes.

Revenue Management background process records and RM background process filter records are created to ensure that asynchronous processes do not clash. For more information, see Revenue Management Background Processes and Filters.

Using Revenue Management with PSA

The Enabling Revenue Recognition for PSA feature in Feature Console has been re-engineered for consistency with Revenue Management's integrations with other applications.

For information about how to set up this feature if it is not already enabled in your org, see Enabling Revenue Recognition for PSA.

If the feature was enabled in an earlier version of Revenue Management, you cannot enable it again in Revenue Management Spring 2023.

Regardless of which version of Revenue Management was used to enable the feature, you can use the Update RM-PSA Integration for Schedules feature to update it for use with recognition schedules.

Using Revenue Management with SCM for Cost Recognition

The Enabling Cost Recognition for SCM feature in Feature Console allows you to set up Revenue Management to recognize costs against SCM purchase orders.

For information about how to set up this feature, see Enabling Cost Recognition for SCM.

Label Changes

Work has been done to update labels in Revenue Management to improve clarity. These changes include:

  • Renaming the Settings and Template objects to Recognition Settings and Recognition Template respectively.
  • Referring to cost recognition instead of cost amortization
  • Making labels less revenue-specific. For example, the Revenue Schedule object has been renamed to Recognition Schedule.

API names have not changed.

For a full list of the changes, see Upgrading to Revenue Management Spring 2023.
