New Features and Enhancements in Services CPQ May 2023

The following new features have been introduced in the May 2023 release of Services CPQ.

If you are upgrading from a previous version, see Upgrading to Services CPQ May 2023. This provides a summary of the items that have been added for each feature and details of any required upgrade steps.

Vendor Line Items

Vendor line items are now copied when adding from template, creating an estimate from a template, or cloning an estimate. For more information, see Adding from an Estimate Template, Creating an Estimate, and Cloning an Estimate.

Project Task Ordering

When project tasks are created from estimate tasks, the order of the project tasks replicates the order of the tasks in the Estimate Builder. When you add estimate tasks to a project after it has been created, they will appear at the end of the project task order. Previously, no order was applied to project tasks. For more information, see Creating a Project from an Estimate.

Services to Salesforce CPQ Connector

We have added new template content records, enabling you to include a breakdown of a related estimate's details in a Salesforce CPQ quote document. For more information, see Setting up the Services to Salesforce CPQ Connector and Including Estimates in Quote Documents.

Enhancements to Discounting

You can now discount estimate products and line sets with a billing type of Time and Materials in the Estimate Builder. To support this change, we have made the following enhancements to discounting:

  • We have added a Total Discount field to the Estimate Role Request object. This is the sum of the global discount on the estimate, the discount on the related estimate product, line set, and task, and the discount of the role request.
  • The Request Bill Rate field on the Estimate Role Request object uses the new Total Discount field to subtract discounts.
  • Discounts can now be applied to line sets, tasks, and role requests when their billing type is Time and Materials.

For more information, see the following topics:

Select Estimate Products Window

Estimate products are now displayed in separate cards by default in the Select Estimate Products window when performing actions such as pushing to opportunity or creating a project from an estimate. To change the view to a list, you can select List from the button menu. Your selection is retained whenever you use the same browser on the same device.

Details about each estimate product are displayed in the description of the cards and in the columns of the list view. The new button enables you to select and deselect all estimate products. For more information, see Pushing an Estimate to an Opportunity, Creating a Project from an Estimate and Adding an Estimate to a Project.

Role request to resource request mappings are now displayed as locked selected fields in the Select Grouping Criteria window when pushing an estimate to opportunity or creating a project from an estimate. Previously, in the April 2023 release, the role request to resource request mappings were not shown in the Select Grouping Criteria window. For more information, see Creating a Project from an Estimate, Creating a Project from an Estimateand Services CPQ Administration.

Opportunity and Project Preview

The new Opportunity Preview window enables you to preview the financial information and resource requests that will be added to the opportunity when pushing to opportunity. For more information, see Pushing an Estimate to an Opportunity

The new Project Preview window enables you to preview the financial information, resource requests, project tasks, and milestones that will be added to the project when creating a project from an estimate or adding an estimate to a project. For more information, see Creating a Project from an Estimate and Adding an Estimate to a Project.

Custom Actions

We have created an invocable method for refreshing the bill rates and cost rates of an estimate's role requests that you can use within Salesforce Flow Builder. For more information, see Custom Actions.
