Adding Analysis from Billing Document Header to Accounting Transaction Line

This topic describes examples for adding analysis from Billing Document header to a Accounting Transaction Line of Type "Account".

Example 1: Mapping a Text Field to Dimension 1

This example describes how to map a Billing Document text field, Customer Reference, to an Accounting Dimension 1:

  1. In Foundations, go to Message Types.
  2. Find the message type "BillingDocument.Complete".
  3. Click the link to the publication ERP/BillingDocument.Complete.
  4. In the Publication Description click to the right of the data folder.
  5. Leave Type as "Field".
  6. Select "Customer Reference" from Field picklist.
  7. Change Key to "dimension1". You must use the precise wording "dimension1".
  8. Click Update.
  9. In the Description section click Save.

If a Customer Reference is entered that is the same as an existing Dimension 1 record, then this is populated on the Accounting Transaction Line - Type "Account".

Example 2: Map to Dimension 2

This example describes how to map to Accounting Dimension 2:

  1. In Foundations, go to Message Types.
  2. Find the message type "BillingDocument.Complete".
  3. Click the link to the publication ERP/BillingDocument.Complete.
  4. In the Publication Description click to the right of the data section.
  5. Leave Type as "Field".
  6. Select "Dimension 2" from Field picklist, then select "Name".
  7. Change Key to "dimension2". You must use the precise wording "dimension2".
  8. Click Update.
  9. In the Description section click Save.

If a Dimension 2 value is entered on the Billing Document, then this is populated on the Accounting Transaction Line - Type "Account".

Notes:

When you create an analysis item in Foundations, you must create an associated dimension in Accounting to receive the analysis details.

The Accounting dimension reporting code or alternative name must exactly match the Foundations reporting code or alternative name that you create.
