Creating an App from the Engagement Analytics Template

The app template for Engagement Analytics enables you to generate an app that contains dashboards and datasets. The configuration wizard allows you to choose the revenue streams and Certinia products that you want to include in the engagement dashboards. In addition, you can choose whether to include the Deferred Revenue Reporting dashboard.

The length of time for your first Engagement Analytics app to be generated depends on the volume of information stored within your org and whether you have turned on specific features in Analytics.

By default, the Data Sync and Incremental Load features are turned off in Analytics. Turning these features on can improve the performance of the app generation. If the app takes a long time to be generated, contact Customer Support. Refer to the Salesforce Help for Analytics for more information about these features.

Retrieving the API Name of Existing Apps

During the Engagement Analytics configuration wizard, you must enter the API name of your existing Business Analytics apps. We recommend that you retrieve the names before starting the configuration wizard.

To retrieve the API names of your existing Business Analytics apps:

  1. In Analytics Studio, open your existing Financial Analytics app.
  2. Open the Details tab. The System Name field contains the API name of your app.
  3. Repeat the steps for your PS Cloud Core Analytics app.

Creating an Engagement Analytics App

To create an app using the Engagement Analytics template:

  1. Click Create in Analytics Studio.
  2. Click App.
  3. Select the Engagement Analytics template, then click Continue.
  4. Provide your answers to each question. For a list of the questions included in the configuration wizard, see Configuration Wizard Questions.
  5. Name your app, then click Create.

Your app is now available from the App Launcher. You can view the app from the Analytics tab, or edit it from Analytics Studio.

By default, when you generate an app the sharing settings are set to private. To give access to other users, click . This opens the app's Give Access tab. For more information about sharing Analytics apps, see the Salesforce Help.

Tip:

To ensure that your data is always up to date, we recommend that you schedule jobs to run the recipe. For more information on scheduling a recipe to run automatically, see the Salesforce Help.

Warning:

You must ensure that the Engagement Analytics recipe runs after the Financial Analytics and the PS Cloud Core Analytics recipes and dataflows. Otherwise, the data might not refresh properly.

Configuration Wizard Questions

To create your app, you must provide responses to the following questions in the configuration wizard:

If you want to include subscriptions from Billing Central and order management from Order and Inventory Management, enter the API name of your Financial Analytics app.

Enter the API name of your Financial Analytics app. For more information on how to find the API name of an app, see Retrieving the API Name of Existing Apps.

This is populated by default with the value of the Einstein Analytics App Name field on the Financial Statements Reporting Settings custom setting.

Only populate this field in the following scenarios:

  • If you use Billing Central with the engagement functionality and want to include billing contracts in Engagement Analytics.
  • If you use Order and Inventory Management with the engagement functionality and want to include sales orders in Engagement Analytics.

Leave this field blank if you don't want to include subscriptions or order management.

Note:

If the Financial Analytics app contains the Billing Contracts dataset, billing contracts are included in the Engagement Analytics app. If the app contains the Order and Inventory Management dataset, sales orders are included in the Engagement Analytics app. If the Financial Analytics app doesn't contain either dataset, an error displays while creating the Engagement Analytics app.
If you want to include services from PSA, enter the API name of your PS Cloud Core Analytics app.

Enter the API name of your PS Cloud Core Analytics app. For more information on how to find the API name of an app, see Retrieving the API Name of Existing Apps.

This is populated by default with the value of the Einstein Analytics App Name field on the PSA Analytics Settings custom setting.

Only populate this field if you use PSA with the engagement functionality and want to include projects in Engagement Analytics. Leave the field blank if you don't want to include services.

Note:

The PS Cloud Core Analytics app you specify must contain the Project Reporting dataset.
Do you want to create the Deferred Revenue Reporting datasets and dashboard?

Select "Yes" to create the Deferred Revenue Reporting datasets and dashboard. Otherwise, select "No".

Only answer "Yes" if you are using Revenue Management and PSA and have supplied an API name in the question above.

Assets Generated When You Create an Engagement Analytics App

When you run the Engagement Analytics app template to create an app, a recipe is generated. This recipe is named according to the app name you provide, followed by Engagement Analytics. The following dashboards and dataset are also generated:
