Searching for Resources from a Resource Request

You can do a quick or full search for resources based on a resource request.

Quick Search

Note:

When Shield Platform Encryption is enabled in your org, you must be as specific as possible when searching for Shield Platform Encryption-supported fields to ensure that matching results are found.

You can search for resources to assign to the resource requestClosed A means of asking for resources for a project or an opportunity. using the filters options in the Assign Resource section of the Resource Request Detail Fields page. Your administrator can edit the Contact Field Sets to modify the fields that appear in the Assign Resource section. For more information, see Assign Multiple Resources to Project Filter Options. If you add too many fields to field sets, you may degrade the performance of this section. Remove fields if performance is impacted.

Tip:

On the Region, Practice, or Group lists, the values are listed in alphabetic order by name, not by hierarchy.

Each filter operates as an OR statement. For instance, if you select region A and region B, the resources in both regions are shown. Similarly, if you select regions A and B and groups C and D, resources from regions A and B and groups C and D are shown.

If no resources are shown you can try widening the search, by selecting --None-- for some or all of the criteria and clearing the checkboxes.

To do a quick search for resources based on a resource request:

  1. On the Resource Requests tab, click the Resource Request ID that you want to search for resources for.
  2. On the Resource Request detail page, scroll to the Assign Resource section.
  3. Select the criteria you want using the search criteria available as described in Assign Resource.
  4. Click Filter Resources.
  5. [Optional] Click + to view the resource's availability and edit the schedule. See Resource Details.

Full Search

Add the Search Resources button to your Resource Request page layout.

To do a full search for resources based on a resource request:

  1. On the Resource Requests tab, click the Resource Request ID that you want to search for resources for.
  2. Click Search Resources. On the Search Resources page, select the criteria you want to use, as described in Search Resources.

    When Shield Platform Encryption is enabled in your org, you must be as specific as possible when searching for Shield Platform Encryption-supported fields to ensure that matching results are found.

    If you have created additional filters using a field set, and Shield Platform Encryption is enabled in your org, the encrypted fields in those field sets will not display in the additional filters.

  3. Click Search. If the resource that you want to assign is not listed, change the search criteria.
  4. To view a resource in the Resource Planner, click View In Planners. PSA opens a new tab and displays the resource in the Resource Planner.

Searching for Resources Using the Search Resources Page

If your administrator has installed and configured the Search Resources page, you can use it to search for resources and review their availability, skills and certifications, completed past projects, and bill rate.

To search for resources:

  1. Click Search Resources in the PSA Links section of the Home page sidebar, or click the Search Resources tab.
  2. Enter the details that you want to search for as described in Search Resources.

    If you have created additional filters using a field set, and Shield Platform Encryption is enabled in your org, the encrypted fields in those field sets will not display in the additional filters.

  3. Click Search. If the resource that you want to assign is not listed, change the search criteria.
  4. To view a resource in the Resource Planner, click View In Planners. PSA opens a new tab and displays the resource in the Resource Planner.
