Deleting Obsolete Recognition Schedules

The Delete Schedules Where Source Unavailable process deletes recognition schedules where the source record is no longer available. A source record can be unavailable for any of the following reasons:

  • The source record has been deleted.
  • The source record is no longer marked as active for recognition.
  • The source record has had its recognition template removed.

Administrators with the Run Recognition Schedule Bulk Generate Process on All Source Records custom permission can run this process so that obsolete recognition schedules do not accumulate.

To run the process manually:

  1. Open the Revenue Management Task Launcher.
  2. Click Delete Schedules Where Source Unavailable in the list of actions. A warning message explains what the process will do.
  3. Click Delete to start the process. The process runs in the background.

By default you are notified by email and by a Salesforce notification when the process is complete. To view the process log, follow the link in the email or click the Salesforce notification to navigate to the process run record and its child process logs. Your administrator can disable email and Salesforce notifications via the Revenue Management Notification Settings custom setting.

Note:

An error message is displayed if the process cannot start because it clashes with another process that is already running.

What Happens When You Run The Process

When the process encounters a recognition schedule where the source record is no longer available:

  • If none of its recognition schedule lines are recognized, the recognition schedule and all its lines are deleted.
  • If some of its recognition schedule lines are recognized, only the lines that have not been recognized are deleted and the recognition schedule's status is set to "Source Unavailable". Recognition schedule lines with the status "Complete" or "Opening Balance" remain unchanged.

You can include the RM Source Unavailable Summary Alert Card on the Revenue Recognition page to display the total recognized revenue or cost on recognition schedules with the status "Source Unavailable", and the number of recognition schedules with this status. You will need to review these recognition schedules and take corrective action if necessary.
