New Features and Enhancements in Extended Planning and Analysis June 2024

The following new features have been introduced in the June 2024 release of Extended Planning and Analysis.

If you are upgrading from a previous version, see Upgrading to Extended Planning and Analysis June 2024. This provides a summary of the items that have been added for each feature and details of any required upgrade steps.

Enhancements to Plan Scenarios

We have made several improvements to plan scenarios.

When you send a plan that contains multiple scenarios to Analytics, all the scenarios are now available in the resulting dataset. You can use the Plan Scenario ID and Plan Scenario Name fields to identify which scenario each row of the dataset belongs to. In addition, the Calculated field enables you to determine whether a value in the dataset was calculated using a formula in the plan. For more information, see Sending Plans to Analytics.

We have improved the Lightning record pages and page layouts related to scenarios. This ensures that you perform all the actions related to scenarios using the Manage Scenario button, instead of using the native Salesforce screens. This helps avoid user errors. For more information, see Plan Scenarios.

In addition, when you delete a plan that contains multiple scenarios, all the scenarios are deleted with the plan. For more information, see Deleting Plans.

Manage Plans via the GlobalPlanService Class

Extended Planning and Analysis API has been updated to include a new GlobalPlanService. The GlobalPlanService class provides methods for performing plan-related operations, such as creating blank plans, creating plans from Analytics, and deleting plans. For more information, see Certinia Technical Pack.

Edit Plan References in Formula Builder

You can now edit the plan references created in the Formula Builder. For more information, see Referencing Plans in Formula Builder.

Preserve Column Order When Importing from an XLSX File

When you import a plan or a scenario from an XLSX file, the column order is now retained. In previous versions, the columns were ordered alphabetically. If you use the cumulative option while importing, the new columns are added to the rightmost position of the table in the same order as they appear in the sheet.

For more information, see Importing and Exporting Plans.

New Plan Template Object

We have added the new Plan Template object. This object has been added to support future functionality, which will enable you to create a plan from a plan template. For more information, see Plan Templates Fields.

Planning Units Mapping

You can now link existing measures to Planning Units. In previous versions, you could only create a Planning unit when creating a new measure. For more information, see Linking Existing Measures To Planning Units.
