Setting up the Deferred Revenue Reporting Dashboard
The Deferred Revenue Reporting dashboard is an optional dashboard included in Engagement Analytics. To create the dashboard, Revenue Management and PSA must be properly set up, and you must have a PS Cloud Core Analytics app in your org. More information about the prerequisites is provided below.
Prerequisites
Before creating the Engagement Analytics app, work through the prerequisites detailed in the table below. If your org doesn't meet some of the requirements, you might still be able to create the Deferred Revenue Reporting dashboard, but it might not work properly or have limited functionality.

Revenue recognition using Revenue Management must be set up for PSA. |
The dashboard relies on Revenue Management's recognition transactions for recognized amounts. You can recognize revenue at the project level or for the related business records, such as milestones, timecards, expenses, and miscellaneous adjustments. |
Enabling Revenue Recognition for PSA |
To display recognized amounts in the project and corporate currencies using dated exchange rates, the Historic Currency Exchange Rate feature must be set up in Revenue Management and configured for PSA. |
Revenue Management can store amounts in the currency on recognition transaction lines. The dashboard leverages this to display the amounts in the project and corporate currencies. To use this functionality, you must:

Using Historic Currency Exchange Rates for Recognition |
Recognition periods in Revenue Management must align to time periods in PSA. |
Your recognition periods in Revenue Management must match time periods in PSA. The names, start dates, and end dates must be the same. For example, you might have a revenue recognition period named 2023/001 with a start date of February 1, 2023 and an end date of February 28, 2023. In that case, you must also have a time period in PSA with the same name and start and end dates. You can have additional time periods in PSA if required, for example, weekly, quarterly, and yearly periods, as well as the perpetual period. Only the monthly time periods must be aligned to recognition periods. |
|
Your org must contain a PS Cloud Core Analytics app. | The Deferred Revenue Reporting Billings and Deferred Revenue Reporting Transactions dataset in Engagement Analytics use the Project Reporting dataset from PS Cloud Core Analytics as one of the base data sources. | |
To view deferred revenue, you must create revenue forecasts in PSA and your PS Cloud Core Analytics app must contain the Revenue Forecast dataset. | The deferred revenue information is retrieved from the Revenue Forecast dataset in your PS Cloud Core Analytics app. |
While creating the Engagement Analytics app, you must answer "Yes" to the question Do you want to create the Deferred Revenue Reporting datasets and dashboard? in the configuration wizard.
After creating the Engagement Analytics app, you can customize the default filters applied to the dashboard. For more information, see the section below.
Customizing the Deferred Revenue Reporting Default Filters
You can customize default filters applied to the dashboard. This can be useful if your org contains large volumes of data. By default, the date range includes all time periods from the Time Periods dataset. You might want to reduce this to a more relevant date range for your org.
To perform these steps, you must be assigned the CRM Analytics Platform Admin permission set. Otherwise, you can only make local settings changes for your current session.
To customize the filters:
- From Analytics Studio, open the Deferred Revenue Reporting dashboard.
- Click Edit to start editing the dashboard.
- Click , then select Pick Initial Values.
- Use the Date Range drop-down selector to customize the date range.
- [Optional] If you reduce the date range to include less than several years, you can also use the View By drop-down selector in the Recognized Revenue and Deferred Revenue chart to display quarters or periods by default. This enables you to view the data more easily.
- Click Done.
- Click Save.
- Click Save to confirm the action.
